Hi Kate, welcome to the board. Was it this system that you were doing? www.integratedenergytherapy.net/I've not been to one of those courses myself, but I'm part of a weekly Reiki practice so hopefully the two have enough similarities for you to find something useful in the following: Reiki is (for me) very much something to be experienced, so the only doubt to be faced is "am I any good at it?", since the question of "is this real?" has already been answered. Even if the explanation is totally bogus, there is at least something very real to be experienced - whatever it might be. What doubts are you facing? After the Reiki 1 attunement, students are encouraged to practice on themselves for a month (some Reiki masters say longer). I found that a helpful time for getting a feel for the energy that's being worked with. Something I have found is that how I've spent my day has quite an effect on my practice. Caffeine seems to have a negative impact. Spending the day playing computer games leads to a totally disastrous practice as does....well, lots of things none of which anyone would claim to be very spiritual. Basically if you can spend your day away from the TV and being quite "present", then your practice will reflect that. At least, it does for me. Sometimes what I experience while giving a Reiki treatment is quite different from what the client experiences (and this might be a reflection of my lack of experience). Common occurrences are: 1. I feel like I'm wading through / cleaning away all this black guilty heavy angry energy and at the end the client says they felt really light the whole time. 2. I don't feel anything very much at all, and the client says they found it to be quite intense. 3. I feel like the session went really well and everything was very clean and flowing and the client says they felt pain or pressure during the session that I wasn't at all aware of. Something else that's been coming up for me lately is that I think there might be something valid in the theory of "energy exchange" which is to say that a giver 'needs' to be compensated in some way by the recipient, otherwise there will be an "energy imbalance". In the commercial world, that means cash and it's an idea I've resisted for a long time but I've had a few sessions I've done for free where I just don't think the recipient got as much out of them as when I've treated a paying client. The best sessions have been "swaps" where two people treat each other in turn - great for balance and no wories about pricing. Anyhoo, hopefully you'll find someone who can give you some help that's more specific to Angel Therapy. Best Wishes, Peter
