Here in ST.org there have been flashing lights and advertising happening right before my eyes...  Has this happened to you? Are we being invaded by aliens?? One such intruder grabs ground-control and insists you look at its offerings. This is a new one, the others appear 'armless, but this new-one has aquired all these spare~arms... forcing one to back~out of this site to regain control. Does Shawn not filter his cigarettes? |

Recently, i put out a call for enlightened Muslims and got a lot of flack here; ppl said there wernt any. By advertising , I dont know if you mean W W Grainger and cricket . They appear at the top of this forum . My cell phone and inter net is through cricket and I have bought stuff from Grainger . Advertising pays the bills . If you mean some thing else you have lost me .
Now the advertising bar is disney land , but it is in Spanish , I can read part of it , like mas felez ( very happy)

I have been to the Grainger web site , never to disney land . Its just not my cup of tea . On the fact that they are watching you , post random number sequences on face book , It will give the people at the n.s.a. some thing to do . The recent one is st offering me an apple product, or I won it or something. It pops up in front of the posts, so I click to close it and it tries to open a page anyway... Occasionally audio advertising starts up and there's no off switch for it. Where are the ethics? lol.

Remember on member actually paid a small fee to stop ads , and was ripped off. They've got us pinned. You get ads, or you pay to get ads.

The recent one is st offering me an apple product, or I won it or something. It pops up in front of the posts, so I click to close it and it tries to open a page anyway... Occasionally audio advertising starts up and there's no off switch for it. Where are the ethics? lol. The browser's I've used have options for blocking pop-ups. The ad network that the site is involved with does seem somewhat aggressive -- at one point it was generating bad requests and it can seem to spin the browser into loops that slow it down. |

Even when I type in a search query, googly poogly premts what I want hehehe... but they also lead the world in personally targeted ads... that's a conflicting interest. Am I actually a client of google's? There's two kinds of client there, the customer that pays for advertising and the consumer who udes the service. The aim, profit, relies on delivering the customer's message to the consumer... This forum, and all 'free' 'services' are actually advertising delivery strategies. This means that you create an advertising delivery system for free. |

I am not speaking about Proboard advertising,(I am ok with that) I am speaking about these flashing lights,"You the lucky winner!" and the like, and most recently ive been caught lingering here by th armed advertising that GRABS control of your computer, demanding you attend to their pop-up which locks the screen neccessitation closing-down and starting again... suppose it could be outside Proboards? That someone is crashing my browser?? I am not computer literate so dont really understand where the adverts are comming from. If you dont get it(INSISTANT adds) then the problem must be in my computer? Thank you for responding. |
