I just joined and thought I should introduce myself. My spiritual path has been rather varied, going through many different stages and studying multiple faiths. Throughout it all I did remain partial to the teachings of Jesus, but tended to shy away due to my fathers attempts to shove his particular Christian beliefs down my throat. over time I came to realize that I really like what Jesus taught and has also been pulled towards Buddhism, so I could be called a Christian-Buddhist. I am currently reading and re-reading the Jesus Sutras by Martin Palmer, which I have found quite a bit of truth in. I really love how it combines Christian and Buddhist beliefs, as well as Toaist.
I guess I should mention I have had certain experiences that could be explained as "mystical," which I have rarely spoken of to others. They have certainly affected the Path I am on and the choices I have made.

Welcome to the board, Astenny.
Any particular quotes from the Jesus Sutras that you'd like to share?
Cheers, Peter
PS Just checked out your website - lots of interesting looking articles to read... I think that answers my question about quotes from the Jesus Sutras - thank you!

I tried to put quotes in the articles/blog entries, and your welcome.
I was quite surprised when I found the book in my library, as most of the stuff they have is more than a little more main stream.

Yes, my local library network (can search entire county catalogue) is particularly poor when it comes to spiritual / alternative books. I assume it's a demand issue - no problem finding Mills and Boon! I was reading your article on daily spiritual practice, which I always find interesting asking people about as it's more about walking than talking: christ-dharma.blogspot.com/2009/07/daily-spiritualitypractice.htmlAre you following item 5, the weekly fast? I'd be interested to hear how you get on with that and what you get out of it. I'm planning one for Tuesday 4 August, mainly just for the experience because I've never been 24Hrs without food before and I know there's a lot of people in the world who have to suffer it many days of the week. I'm a bit worried about getting low blood sugar. I'll be taking the bus to work that day, rather than cycling! Cheers, Peter

I have tried a full fast before, but I tend to get a migraine if I do that so I don't do it too often.

I probably won't be around very much right now, although I will try to be. My migraines are getting worse and more frequent, and combine that with a full time job and I tend to be rather exhausted lately.

I have returned to the forum, finally. I had only planned to be here periodically as time permitted. Then, my computer decided to break down and it was only fixed yesterday. Yes, I could have fixed it a little sooner... but it was a choice between fix it now for around $100 or wait and fix it for $15. I chose to wait.
