I just started to get text-enhance advertisements. I'm assuming this is proboards and not my browser. Words like work, children, identity (identity theft), started showing up with links and mouse-over advertisements.
I know the board is free, but FUCK this is annoying.
Any good way to turn it off? I was fine with a banner ad, but this is going to grate pretty quick.

I googled it and was told how to sort it out. If I recall, I went to 'tools', then 'extensions' and there was an extension in there that didn't belong there. I deleted it and the problem was solved once I restarted the computer. I think sometimes you have to clear the program from 'add/remove programs' in the control panel.

I've never seen a single ad on this website, other than links users post to their websites. All I see is a big, mostly blank screen that sometimes gets really full of text when people decide to share books with us.
In fact, I don't get ads on most websites. If you use firerfox, you should download the 'adblock' and 'adblock plus' addons. They eliminate an ungodly amount of things like that. If you don't use firefox..... I guess you're fucked.

Yeppers, Firefox with AdBlock Plus, adblockvideo, Flashblock and NoScript. Running these i don't even need to have a firewall or realtime virus checker running.
The only thing i use from Microsoft is the OS, and if i had the time i would bin that and learn to use one of the distros of Linux.
