Can you embed a Youtube video in a post?

First, thank you so much for putting up this wonderful site - an honor to those whom God has given to mankind to lead us to greater Truth and Freedom and ultimately Home to Him.

On a more technical note, is there a way to embed a Youtube video into a post? I tried the Youtube button above, but either I wasn't doing it right, or I noticed some folks found a way to do it, but now I can't find their posts to inquire.

You have to hit the reply button (unless you know the coding), then highlight your link before you hit the youtube lookin' button. You can find said button by hovering the mouse pointer over each button and reading the tooltips that appear.

Just remember that your link has to be in between [whateverthecodeis] and [/whateverthecodeis]. First bracket pair starts the link, second bracket pair with a forward-slash ends it.

Argg, when I try it, the way you instructed, nothing appears in my posts. The link is below.

I highlight the link and click the red Youtube button.

The link is surrounded by the Youtube code until I hit Post Reply.

Then everything disappears. Trying it below, if there is nothing below, the same thing happened.

you're close, but it's even simpler than that. when you're in youtube, the url that shows up there is the one that you want to use.(for example, right now there is a spiritualteachers.proboards.com/index..... url showing)

then use the youtube button the way you did with that url. IOW, you don't have to get any special links or codes when you are at youtube. Just use the one that shows up in the URL field when you're there.

it should look like the below (i put some extra spaces in the brackets so you could see this without it transmogrifying into the embedded video)

[ youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9irda5hs7-Q&feature=youtu.be[/ youtube]

Thank you for all your help. For some reason, it just doesn't work. I've followed your instructions to the letter. Maybe something wrong with this computer?? Or my rights to embed videos, or who knows?? I'll try from a different computer, but again, I appreciate your patience and help in trying to help me figure this out.

Thank you so much for all your help! If I had paid more attention, to your exact instructions, I would have been successful! I was trying to embed the short link that Youtube provides, which of course didn't work! Thank you everyone!
