Hello,
I am new at this site. I found it while doing research for a book I am working on.
My name is Ken, I am 51 and a retired (main stream Christian) minister. The book I am working on is called The Power of The Bible to Reclaim Our True Self.
I spent many years (still studying) human nature. Why people do what they do, think the way they think, react the way they react. Many years ago one day in a church meeting the thought came to me…”Christians are not very loving people.” From that moment at about age 24 at my second work as a minister, I became fascinated with the study of human nature.
Oh, did I come up with an answer to my question…Yes.
At one point in my ministry I came upon this thought. People want mercy from others, but all to often show others little mercy. I wanted to know why.
I don’t want to bore you any longer so I will conclude with a hearty Hi, and I know I will gain some insight here.
Ken

Ken, We must have mercy or compassion towards ourselves first. We must put the work into understanding ourselves before we can truely show compassion towards others. We cannot leap frog over ourselves. :-)

Welcome, Ken.
If you don't mind, could you tell your definition of "True Self"?
