Center for Sacred Sciences - The Nondual Foundations of Science

A 30 min. plenary talk by Joel Morwood given at the Science and Nonduality Conference in San Rafael, California, in October 2009. In this talk, Joel discusses a major challenge of reconciling science with a nondual perspective: explaining how science works. If, as the mystics testify, there is no real external world independent of consciousness, how do we understand and explain why our theories of science work so remarkably well? One possible approach to solving this problem is presented.

He seems to separate science from math to prove his point. Why even bother to prove why science works? What's he really trying to prove.

I find the question unnecessary. I use science as the best possible way to reject quaint and cherished ideas about the "physical world" in order to get iPhones, Pizza, etc.. I only have to look upon this so-called material world as a map not to be confused with the territory. I don't think the territory is ever knowable.
