Hi, everybody. I'm looking for a little guidance in the spiritual department. Specific religions aren't really what I'm about...I feel that they're more of a stepping stone to the true spiritual whatever, but I still respect them.
Help regarding meditation techniques, good ways to get started in the Self-Query departments would be very greatly appreciated. I have issues distinguishing between what my ego is telling me to make me feel like I'm progressing and when I'm actually progressing. Self doubt is almost undoubtedly in play, but personal motivation is trying to get past that in as many ways as possible.
Thanks for any replies or help! Mamza

hi mamza I suggest just plunging in without trying to analyze it too much. Start with what appeals to you and shift to/add others as your inner guide leads...
I love Byron Katie's method of inquiry and you might enjoy having a look at that.

Thanks for the response, both of you. I'll look into Byron Katie's methods as soon as I can. So far the most interesting things I've found have been about Kundalini energy. Almost everything I've read about it has made perfect sense to me as far as developing technique is concerned. I'll give Byron Katie's method a go and see how things work! P.S. - My current method of meditation is described on this web page: kundalini-teacher.com/meditations/grounding.php

Hello Mamza,
Just saw your post. You've probably already got it all figured out, but I'll answer anyway. Go to Ramana Maharishi. Talk about self-inquiry?? The man CReatED self-inquiry!! He was/is one of the best spiritual icons who ever graced our planet. Really!!

Hi,
You're my first post.
It depends on what you mean by progress.
I felt I was progressing because things were occurring that I never experienced before. I had an increase in well being. I would have a sudden new state. I would get answers to my questions even through the mail! Then I had my first Awakening which is called "what you are not". This experience started a whole chain of events where I was Conscious Awakness or Unconscious Awakeness, depending on the day, if you know what that means.
I'm practicing Non-duality Spirituality and my primary Teacher is Adyashanti. His transmission started a whole slew of experiences and I was stunned at the progress. I've been on this path since January 2011.
Regarding what ego says; experience is the whole thing and it is not something that can be argued for or against. It just is.
I hope this helps.

Just keep telling yourself that you are not the body organism, and all will naturally fall in place, make your own religion, and not someone's else's, but whatever you do it doesn't matter, your already that which is, and you can never be anything else.

Yeah, that would be the NLP approach, although, this won't work anyway, because "I am not this body organism" is the same as "I am not thinking about pink elephants"... It's just LOA which, says this is an inclusion based universe, by trying to exclude something you are including it because whatever you focus upon will persist.

Yea nothing works, you are already there, whatever we do is only getting in the way......but still there is language that is used, and hopefully discarded at the right or wrong time.

Yep rejoice always, just forget about being anything, we can never be anymore than what we are already, trying to be something else is what causes frustration and misery, and so the Buddha laughs.
