I have been studying cosmology recently. And i have come to reject the big bang. I certainly do not agree with a beginning of the universe. ;D There is an implicit theoretical distinction between the concepts "universe" and "cosmos". Cosmos is everything that is and it includes at least one (our) universe, possibly many more. The big bang refers to the beginning of our specific universe. The big bang does not refer to the beginning of the cosmos. There are many interpretations of the big bang, some of which express the possibility that it wasn't exactly a "beginning". But from the evidence we have, it is clear that the event we call "big bang" must have happened. We don't know the exact mechanics of it. So I'd say that your doubt is very justified, your conviction however is not. Not even our brightest minds know for sure.
