Maybe I'm wrong but isn't meditation about communing with that which put you here. I don't like to use the word God as the name has been misused and abused throughtout the centuries.

Mits,
Meditation is different than communing. Communing is defined as "To converse together with sympathy and confidence; to interchange sentiments or feelings; to take counsel. [1913 Webster]" With meditation especially Vipassana meditation your focus is on stopping your thoughts, taming the bull, and learning how to develop equanimity. In all fairness Webster defines it as "1. The act of meditating; close or continued thought; the turning or revolving of a subject in the mind; serious contemplation; reflection; musing. [1913 Webster]" Which still does not contain any type of communing but still deals with internal reflection.
Pax,
William
