Hello everyone my name is Michael.
I am the awaken one! Now honestly doesn't that sound horrible. I would be thinking that nut has one of the biggest spiritual egos I have seen. The truth is I don't . I am nobody special. Awakening is nothing special. In fact you can never truly awaken because you already are awake.
How do you wake up a person that is already awake?
However my life was not always like this. I am 57 now and even from a young age I was a spiritual traveler. In my 20's I went to India with nothing and lived with the people in a long walkabout. A little later I spent a couple years in Siddha Yoga w/Swami Muktananada.
A little later I dropped all ties with meditation and yoga and masters and became a born-again christian, then a Mormon and a JW.
This went one for a few years and I became interested in meditation once again. This was a time around 10 years where I started my own business did very well and really only paid a small amount of attention to anything spiritual.
Then came a time when I heard a teacher give a satsang on nonduality and something just sounded real about it. No drama, no need to be anything but yourself. What's not to like. So for near 7 years I went to satsangs, retreats, read books, met teachers the whole nine yards. Now no matter what anyone tells you including me and no matter how sincere and awake you feel there is always this part of us that is looking for something. Maybe we want a Tony Parsons walking across the park one day awakening. Maybe we want to see the world stop and see ourselves outside looking in.
This is a trap we all fall into. I am not a teacher but I think I can save you a lot of time with this awakening game.
My awakening experience was brought about by some tragic or what seemed as tragic losses. I was living overseas( I am a US Citizen) and had a beautiful beach home on Margarita island a Caribbean island part of Venezuela. Well fast forward a bit I had to sell as Chavez began passing laws that were a liability if you were a foreigner owning property in his country. Then everything went "wrong" a week after the sale of my house I transferred all the money into my Panamanian bank account(that's another story)
well someone stole my identity went into my bank and took all my money then after hiring a overprice attorney which cost me $10,000 to get my money back because the bank wanted to keep it.
I then put all my money in the Forex market and lost it all. There I sat in a 3rd world country with my dog and not even enough money for a plane ticket back to the US. Some people say when you awaken and I don't like using that phrase at all because we all are awaken but for sake of my story I will. When we awaken it is nothing at all like you imagine nor could you have ever imagined it.
It was a couple weeks after I lost everything and was so worried and frighten that I would die in Panama. Then it happened to find relief from what seemed impossible problems I sat down and became still, very still and in that stillness I actually felt happy. I was amazed in no way should I have felt happy I thought. I felt so happy that I couldn't wait to have more problems lol.
This is awakening when you can be still, very still and you feel the space that your in but the space has no container everything is space and you turn your glance inward to look at yourself and you see everything is perfect, nothing has changed. This "space" we have is not special if it was only some would have it. No one does not have this space. What happens to most of us we become unaware of it but it's there. For myself I need to have such a dramatic external life experience for the space to show itself to me.
There is a shift that happens however it's not the shift your thinking of as a matter of fact you have no idea a shift has happen to you until you look back in time. It's my belief that the world needs this "awakening" we all do. To feel and sense that you are awake just become very still and when you are so still see if there are any problems in the space your in. Then look at yourself ask yourself do you have any fear at all.Ask yourself can it really be this easy and see yourself answer your question with a big yes.
That is all you need to do. Now there will probably be a few that will take issue with this, will say there is no world to need, or you are the world or whatever. Any kind of use of the intellect will keep you from being aware of your awaken self. Not only is this not necessary it hinders you best to pay attention only to the stillness and you got it you are awake! There is nothing else. So what happens next someone asks well what happens next is what happens next but now when you hear this you know really what it means.
I hope in a small way that this story ca be a help for you and your life.
There is no need for the world to come down on your shoulders to realize this just being still is all that is needed. No need to search, or follow one teacher after another and another hoping to hear something that will "do it for you" they all say the same thing and after you spend something in stillness you too will say the same thing.
Peace
Michael
