Hope you are all well!
About 20 years old, I attended Douglas Harding's workshop, "Head Off Stress", without really knowing about enlightenment and where he was coming from. Actually, my employer sent me to the workshop believing that it was to do with stress management! You can imagine my report on the workshop when I got back to work!
About 14 years ago, my partner got me looking into Tibetan Buddhism. I really like its wisdom but don't buy into the ritual and cultural aspects. I was hypnotised by Tibetan Buddhism into believing it took many lifetimes to get enlightened. And I really wasn't sure what enlightenment was. However, with some unexpected experiences, I had a taste of what could be possible here and now. I began looking into other teachings. I read Adyashanti, Suzanne Segal, Nisargadatta, Sailor Bob Adamson and some advaita books. With some of the advaita authors, I personally feel that their realisation is not complete - awakened to no self, stopped there and then intellectualised about it to build a full picture.
I don't remember how I came across this site. From the spiritual teachers' page (a most helpful page), I began reading Richard Rose and Linda Clair. Linda Clair's book, "What Do You Want?" is very good, especially if one is into meditation.
A couple of weeks ago, my partner came across a book in a bookshop and thought that I would like it - Jan Frazier's "When Fear Falls Away : the story of a sudden awakening". It is very illuminating. I wonder whether anyone else has read this book. Her website is www.janfrazierteachings.com/blog/
Bye for now!
