This is my first post and my first attempt at contacting other people who are feeling like I am. I feel strongly that there is something way more to life than what I have been taught. I am trying to figure out how to raise my children in something I haven't even figured out yet. I stay confused most days and search endlessly for answers. I have always been a very happy-go-lucky positive type, that is fading very quickly. No one around me seems to be feeling that way I do except for a brother who is so out of my realm that he can't help me. I hope I can find others that are coming to this point of realization about the world in which we live.

Hi CurlySue: Welcome to the forum. Just out of curiosity, have you seen the movie "Happy Go Lucky?" If not, you might want to check it out. It is an extremely funny but deeply spiritual movie that touches upon the subject you raised in your post. The movie is not overtly spiritual, but the state of mind of the young woman featured in the movie is worth reflecting upon. She is fearless, happy, playful, smart, open to whatever life brings, and present.
You are quite right that there is much more to life than what most of us are taught by our family/friends/teachers/culture in general, and you will find many pointers to the object of your search on this forum. Cheers.

Welcome CurlySue.
I'm also raising children, but they're very young (1 and 3) so we haven't discussed anything particularly metaphysical yet. The 3 year old has just about got his head around death I think - he understands (or at least, is able to repeat) that we all die someday but hopefully not for a long time, and then we don't get up or see each other again after that (I don't want him running across a road thinking he's going to reincarnate instantly and turn up for breakfast the next morning!)
I'm sorry to hear that you're losing your happy go lucky attitude, perhaps some time in nature would help - see those questions you've got answered in the mountains, trees and rivers.
I'm curious - what path has your brother travelled down that you're finding yourself perhaps a bit disconnected from him?
Any questions that we can address here? This forum loves questions!
Take care, Peter

Big questions, CurlySue. Big disconcerting questions. We are taught by people who, unless you are extremely lucky, do not know the nature of anything. The good news is that, if the Universe has set you on this course or path, the answers are there and will be provided as you need them. Welcome to the forum. It has been of great assistance to me.
