I've been there a few times. It's laid out well, and has a large amount of content. Well done.

Hey dude, I am wondering about the website name? I don't use the word "enlightenment" because it is so overused and abused. And what is your purpose or intent with the site? Are you reviewing materials of a spiritual nature to help others? If so, I would like to know something about you and your background. Anyone can have an opinion. What is it about you that I should care to read your opinion? In some sense you are in competition with this website, or at least it comes across that way to me. It seems like you are promoting those that you like. How about adding a discussion board so there can be many opinions voiced about the materials you are reviewing? But then you would be competing with amazon, which might be a good thing actually..... all right then

Hey dude, I am wondering about the website name? I agree with you about that word, but I have yet to find a better word, "abiding non-dual awareness dudes" just didn't sound right And what is your purpose or intent with the site? Are you reviewing materials of a spiritual nature to help others? The purpose of the sight was to give people the "man on the street" take on these books - as you see - most of these books come out with glowing reviews by co-guru pals and other "Enlightened Beings" I had a hard time finding some plain straight talk about these books - so me and a few friends decided to do a blog about it If so, I would like to know something about you and your background. Anyone can have an opinion. What is it about you that I should care to read your opinion? This is a GREAT question, I have a lot of strikes against me as a spiritual book reviewer 1. I hold no advance degrees in this stuff 2. I have no "followers" 3. I have never been a member of any ashram, monastery, or cult 4. I never studied under any of the "great teachers" 5. I have never visited neither Napal or India nor have I been blessed in any sacred rivers 6. I hold no official titles - including swami, guru, father, Bhagavan or anything else like that 7. I wear no robes, medallions, blessed rings, or orbs of any kind 8. I've never hung out with the Dali Lama 9. I don't speak Sanskrit, Japanese, or Chinese 10. I eat meat like they are going to stop making it at some point 11. I don't believe in charity, chastity, grace, salvation, karma, reincarnation, a true self, yoga, Tai chi, meditation, sin, the Tao, repeated mantras, the "I thought" or the silence and stillness of pure being. 12. I use no spirit guides, spirit animals, gnomes or wee-folk of any kind to aid my path 13. And lastly, I have a healthy distrust for organized spirituality and out-word displays of that one thing that is perfect and unsay-able in other words - I may be last person who should be reviewing these books, but oddly I am and people seem mildly entertained In some sense you are in competition with this website, or at least it comes across that way to me. It seems like you are promoting those that you like. "Competition with this site" would imply a scarcity mentality in the number of people interested in this stuff or that people aren't competent enough to follow multiple spirituality web sites - but I follow like ten of these - and I am always looking for the best 10 myself How about adding a discussion board so there can be many opinions voiced about the materials you are reviewing? But then you would be competing with amazon, which might be a good thing actually..... all right then This also is a good suggestion Burt - we may do that thanks again for the comments, I found them challenging and I hope you find my response some what humorous Jim

Ravenscroft: After reading this last post of yours, I'd say that you are eminently qualified to review books about nonduality. A good sense of humor and a high degree of scepticism are worth a lot of points on my list of reviewer qualifications. LOL. Keep up the good work.

I first became aware of your site from seeing a review on Norquist's book HU. I haven't yet reviewed it too thoroughly, but I did like the review I say (and the updated Norquist review).
This is kind of a weird field to rate so I understand when people get a little buggy about intentions. But I always give Shawn the benefit of the doubt with his site because I even though I don't know him, I know folks that do and this site has been a great reference.
Best to you and I hope to see more of your site soon. Regards, Jeff

Ravenscroft, that is a good reply But I have to say I am not sure which is humor and which is seroius. This is a problem with email communication and some forms of humor LOL But it is all good. I see where you are coming from. I will say that I do have a sensitivity to anyone promoting a teacher or system. So I will will ask questions to uncover motives whenever I can. For what it is worth I am in pretty fair agreement with your list of 14 things you don't believe in. I have another question for you though. Are you earnest about anything in this matter? Or serious? take care

Hey Folks wonder if a few people would like to check out our new website look and give any feedback also, constructive critique is fine to! thanks all the site is enlightenmentdudes.com/Ok here is some muscle and bone for you. You reviewed Wolinsky and gave him a 10 out of 10. I couldn't agree more on that rating. I have only known about his work for a few months, but I find it to be very very deep and complete, and in some sense groundbreaking. Your review mentioned very little about the content and why it deserved a 10. What was your opinion about his description of the way our percieved reality is constructed by the nervous system? How about his method of induction in his guided meditations? I have never heard or read that he claims to be enlightened. How terrific is that! LOL I am not sure about some of the extra levels he describes. It doesn't seem necessary to me. His description and insertion of so many references of "when I went into samadi......" were tiresome and smacked of ego stroking. But those were small distractions. If you are so inclined I would like to seriously discuss this program of his. Humor is great, but without being serious you just can't approach a work like his.

I only look at 2 and can't keep up with this one topic very well LOL Actually I like your answer about why you did it. My suggestion about discussing Wolinskys work is because I think it is very good. I don't know how much exposure he gets. I bought his cd set because it sounded interesting and was deeply discounted by sounds true warehouse sale LOL, but it is a jewel.

Humor is great, but without being serious you just can't approach a work like his. sure thing Burt One of the other Enlightenment Dudes (Scott) did the Wolinsky review, so I am a bit out of my depth in translating what he was trying to say..I may see if he can come on here when he gets a chance (I think he is finishing a review of Peter Ralston's new book right now for our site)...he would talk about Wolinsky all day, we both think the guy's approach is innovative & powerful. In fact, his is only one of a handful that got the perfect 10 for us. Nice to hear you found such a good deal for the CD course, we hated even listing something on our site that was like $50, that is a lot of cash!
