Do you not own the contents of your mind? Do you have clear title that you don't ? Perhaps you have an invoice from the thought warehouse that you do not own your thoughts? Can you prove you are not the proprietor of your thoughts? Can you prove you're not the owner? I have no doubt you and others who hold that the philosophy of Self Realization\Non Duality is truth and can speak for eons about it expressing all manner of confident statements it's truth. But factual testable, verifiable evidence...none so far that i have ever seen from such devotees...hence my effortless decision to not engage in lengthy discussions with such people. I do not have any inclining to be preached to. I've already done the 'dogmatic religion' part of my journey, i see no need to take another one. How many threads do you and others like you need to produce to express your profound devotion to just of one of thousands of theories about existence, till you are satisfied, till you are at peace and there is no more disturbance within yourself that you no longer feel the urge to speak.**Steps up to the preacher's pulpit** There is evidence, but you must learn how to see. **Walks briskly, but self righteously, toward the door** What part of the bolded text do you not understand?

laughter, are you asking because you don't know or wondering if we know we are masters of our own mind? He might be asking because he knows that we're not. I interpreted laughter's OP as yet another challenge to others so he can then go crazy go nuts, again. to defend his Non Duality\Self realization religion\philosophy\theory\belief system, and denigrate others and their different beliefs along the way. To me, his OP is "I dare you to prove your beliefs are true." So i put the question back to him, "Prove your non duality beliefs are true", while expressing i think it's all rather pointless exercise, and i have no inclining to listen to someone go on and on about something they are passionate about that i am not. I was on path that contained these elements, the believers of that path defending and proclaiming how awesome their beliefs are, and attacking anything contrary. And i was swept up in this stream of consciousness for quite a while, then through a slowly developing self awareness i finally concluded it definitely was not truth and how this could not be seen by those still convinced it was. While people like laughter have found their absolute truth, i contemplate and conclude it ain't true for me, so i have no interest in it. People like laughter have finished their search, their journey, and good on him, i wish him well, but it's always a mixture of funny, sad and facepalming to see him (and others like him) stand on their porches mocking and taunting others still traveling. I was convinced many times i had found absolute truth. Took me a while to see my matrix and discover all those absolute truths were merely subjective ones.

I know "why" questions can be a trap,.. but i find that when attention is at the doorway, a lot less thoughts will come through. Why do you think that might be? You wait for yourself. If you're standing at the doorway, you're not going to catch yourself walking through it. There is only one of you. Attention is either on watching for the next thought, or it is on thinking the next thought. Ultimately, they are both thoughts, and you can only think one thought at a time. When you lose your focus on the watching thought, you attach to a thinking thought and ride it in through the doorway. On the issue of 'why' questions, it can be very beneficial to ask yourself such question in the context of mind, especially if one is earnest. Heh heh So that watching is a thought too? I thought it was a gap between thoughts because there wasn't any commentary running.

**Steps up to the preacher's pulpit** There is evidence, but you must learn how to see. **Walks briskly, but self righteously, toward the door** The way I'm seeing it, James isn't hostile in the least. You and L are taking it that way because you're stuck -- too accustomed to seeing things one way only. That is your problem. Everybody has different views. Not everybody presents their view in a preemptive hostile manner.

Obviously, I understood it completely or I wouldn't have parodied it. What was it you didn't understand about that?

Well...now it's your turn.

Folks around here don't cotton much to absolute truths, and I'd say that includes L. Seems to me we moistly talk about what isn't true, so I would think you would feel right at home.

Here's a thought: How 'bout concentrating on the parts that you do agree on?

I thought it was a gap between thoughts because there wasn't any commentary running. If you're a really clever watcher, you can watch yourself thinking the thought 'I'm watching for the next thought'. Hehe. When you forget to think that thought is when you start thinking other thoughts, and then catch yourself coming through the door. It's all a one man show. The best you can do is back up the observation point until a real gap occurs, but when it does you won't be there to experience it. It's auspicious nonetheless.

You are trying to be clever with the flu bug quip, but it's clearly your own hostility shining through. Nice.
