That structure of entangled thoughts and feelings that form the basis of the processes of self-referential thought, self-referential emotion and apparently self-referential decisions/action. ==== This structure is completely mind-made. It is a 100% contrivance of ideation and emotion, whereas the actuality is the absence of the imagined boundaries that result from ego. This absence, the actuality, is love. There is no way to engage self-referential expression without resorting to it. In terms of the individual, in merely seeing ego in another individual, ego appears. Ego in an individual is the "creation" of the other ... but of course, this "creation", isn't actual. Ego, in terms of an individual, can only be witnessed looking inward, although sometimes it's expression is so loud and proud that it reveals itself. And unmistakably so.

Yes, it's just a structure of thought. The tendency is to anthropomorphise ego and turn it into an enemy to be dealt with, which of course is just more ego.
