I heard a rumor. Was it significant? Afeared of The Big One? It's upsetting, yeah - and we JUST had another aftershock, bigger than the one at 7:48, grrrrr... It was a 5.4 approximately (the one last night at 9:00). You ever been in one? For once, I'm grateful for all the boxes of stuff I have around...my bookcase would've toppled over if it weren't for them, ha ha. I slept with a night light half the night. It's not thought of (the big one) until these 'little' ones happen.....only good thing is, it gives something half-way interesting to talk about. not really, the ground seems fairly content round these parts. although in 2011 there was a 5.8 100 miles from here, I was outside at the time, and missed it, which I thought was a bum deal .. I like storms and Earth related events.

Lightning was quite exciting -- I remember pressing my face up against the window to watch it, LoL...while grandma was unplugging the tv set.

I wasn't aware of it until you posted about it. Just read a few things on the internet about it. People are saying this one had a different feel to it, like it wasn't going to end. Yeah, I'd say so, and I'm keenly aware of all the aftershocks and once they're over, I feel annoyed at them, but very grateful it didn't turn into more biggies (yet!).

Wellsboro in Tioga County (my town is the county 'seat' - whatever that means). The State Laurel Festival/Parade was televized - don't know if it still is... If I'm not mistaken, my high school sports teams used to play Troy, but not certain.

We had an 5.0 earthquake back in the 1980's that I felt, and my vision was somewhat distorted by it for a moment, too, while working with a customer on a car lot. It didn't last very long. If I'm recalling correctly, the epicenter was somewhere in Northern Kentucky. I remember asking the customer, "Did you see that?" And he responded, "No, but I felt it."

There's been a big boom in gas drilling up that way, and the area has changed quite a bit. I've sworn off ever going back, but you never know what might happen next...

I'm not sure why you swear you would never go back, though. It's not that bad.

Ah jeez, it wasn't even about personal/impersonal. While I don't wish for st.org to be run like a nursery school, I'm tired of the frog hopping into a conversation he has no idea what's being said. Like Laffy sez, he's an evil frog, always starting trouble where there is none. *snicker* Did you post in the appropriate thread? I don't know if E even filled out a bracket this year. How did he get involved? I was born in Elmira.

The penitentiary at the city gates, visiting the Mark Twain funeral plot, lovely trips to the WalMart out in Big Flats, working at some old dusty stationary plant, yes, I remember that dumpy town quite well.
