I have been working on a spiritual path for years. read books, depak chopra, wayne dyer, on and on. worked on mindfulness meditation, vipassana. jon kabat zinn. I've got it all in my head, why can't I feel it in my heart? I feel numb, no feelings except deep sadness and depression.

For 30 days, go about imagining that your heart is a flame, and your body is the aura, or light given off by the flame. Keep returning to this as often as you remember, while in every activity, and while sitting still. Wear a loose rubber band or string on your wrist to remind you....in 30 days you will be utterly transformed, with many enlightening experiences along the way. Also, what you give attention to is the secret to life...your experience is shaped by what you give attention to in each moment...what you give attention to is a choice, exercise it ;-) and give attention to loving, joyous, uplifting stuff....you can give attention to just about anything you want, why give attention to aspects of Being that are not bringing you joy, or peace, or clarity?

You also might try a trip somewhere or deliberately picking some sort of new activity that might interest you like a sport or craft or something to read that has nothing to do with spirituality. If you've got the time you might consider volunteering somewhere -- nothing beats depression like helping someone else. This forum involves a very frank open and honest discussion, primarily of nonduality and shedding belief. So was there anything in particular that Dwyer wrote that interested you?

Its a choice. You know how to love. Love life, love God, love your friends, love your enemies, love all that is good, love all that is bad, love it all. I know that probably doesn't make sense, but its a terrible pain to feel empty. it makes a lot of sense to me i know where you are this black dark hole where there´s supposed to be a heart been there for many many years i thought something was wrong with me very wrong until someone who knew what she was talking about, asked me just to ´´be´´ with that pain, that emptyness. no struggle, no fight, just acceptance of what is. just be with it just observe the less movement, the better eventually,for me, that blackness turned velvety...that was already a great change for me...i could not believe it...for you something else might happen. you do not have to do anything, not to be any different from what or who you are. nothing more, nothing less. if you can stay with that emptyness also during the day , is good if you can,go for walks in nature, or somewhere away from people. and treat your body well...if you can, eat salads, the rawer the better.No, or less sugar.No coffee.
in my case, part of the pain was staying there due to malnourishment.It is a loop,connected with feelings and habits, a change of food is a way to break through the loop, or make it easier to break out of that loop.If you can find and afford, ask a Touch for Health therapist for dietary advice.They are excellent.(ask references)3 weeks of diet and i never got depressed (i was suicidal) again...still empty, but very manageble it became.then, now,much later, the emptyness turns out to be a blessing.Many people try and try to be ´´empty´´, and they are full, they spend a lifetime getting ´´empty´´. in emptyness, anything can manifest --. i think that the first video of hicks isnt going to do you much good (sorry andrew) i think the woman is WAY to pushy, and moralistic, she just causes more pain i am (you are) supposed to love, but you CANT, that´s the problem (unless you are hypersensitive, then Andrews energy may help you.cool guy.

I resonate with the advice you offered, in fact all the advice on this thread has been good.In a way, this forum is at its best when people come here specifically wanting help with something. p.s in fact all the advice on this thread has been good. i AGREE i checked ´´touch for health´´ on youtube, and got a bit confused. my mother was a TFH therapist for 20+ years, and when she started, it was mainly testing for food allergies...or better put, imbalances between different organs due to faulty nourishment, causing energy drains and hence depressions. so she would have a list with names of all kinds of food and tested which ones were good and which werent, for that particular person.As far as i know, that is how TFH started out.But of course, you can ask the body ANYTHING, as long as you want a yes or no answer.So what i saw on youtube was more complex, also going into psychology and such i would not recommend that, at least not for a first session. It wont have to take more than one session of about two hours, to figure out your ´´allergies´´. get your food in order, or better put, get your organs back to their normal functioning--that takes three weeks only and will spare you the depressions.Otherwise they will return. after the three weeks, you can ,in theory go back to your old diet, but you will probably want to be careful with that. i remembered after posting i got a depression many years later, and corrected myself with a better diet.(I had started eating the usual crap again, SED (standard european diet, almost as bad as SAD.) good luck ! www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM5pvLj7B_cwww.youtube.com/watch?v=uk9WMMQz0f8
