To follow another human being in psychological, spiritual subjects is to destroy our possibility of discovering what is true or false.

To follow another human being in psychological, spiritual subjects is to destroy our possibility of discovering what is true or false. I would agree, if you were to put the word 'blindly' in front of 'follow' in your statement. Although the word 'follow' I agree, could also indicative of someone who is perhaps 'back-seating' his own voice for that of another. But, I'd say the very fact that there is 'interest' in following along with a particular teaching or philosophy, is because it speaks to us of 'truth.' The interest is our indicator that we see some kind of 'truth' there. If we looked at a particular teacher and their teachings, and had no sense of resonance at all, the interest to follow or investigate further would not arise...we don't see any 'truth' there... In following any idea or teaching due to an arising of interest, we are to some extent, engaging in a process of 'discovering what is true or false' for us. So long as we don't get so attached to the teacher or teachings that we circumvent our own inner voice in favor of their voice, I'd say we can engage with various teachings that capture our interest, without necessarily having our own ability to acknowledge what seems 'true' and what does not, destroyed.

Yes we must be a light unto ourselves when it comes to true spirituality, another can help in some ways, but in the end you must do it for yourself. If we follow others we will never experience our true inner SELF, we will always be nothing but second-hand Rose lol.
