No doubt is part of being, and I encounter a lot of 'no you', yet the presence of the illusion is always acknowledged, so the question reframed is not if I exist or not, but the very nature of being. The mind may wrestle with answers and seek out what is ineffable, but the explorer finds out what is there by stepping into the unknown, and never known until arrival.

There is no ultimate truth of the matter...from some perspectives you exist, from another, you do not....no 'ultimate' truths exist unless you are currently clinging to one. Better Questions: Are you alert, or sleep walking through this moment? Are you Sleep Living? Sleep Talking? Sleep Eating? Sleep Writing? Sleep Thinking? Sleep Observing? Or.... Are you Alert, and Acutely Aware in this moment? Isn't the 'ultimate' truth silence? Don't cling to, or attach yourself to ANY 'ultimate' truth, this includes your deepest realizations.

I'm sorry but I know I exist? No apologies necessary... :-) having said that...you know too much....only go straight, and not know.

having said that...you know too much....only go straight, and not know. "not know" what? my first grade teacher pointed at a bunch of squiggly lines; a, b, c,.. now I know what they are used for, and that knowledge is useful I can't not know what they are now, why would I even want to? that usefulness would be lost, and I would be illiterate

What do you see as the use in the knowing that you exist. You think its necessary for survival or something like that?

The temptation is to say something like, existence is temporal but really the key is the clear seeing of why the query is definitively unanswerable and acceptance thereof. Any notion of existence must be contrasted with that of non-existence, so it's effectively unencapsulatable. *made up word alert*
In the broadest or most abstract sense it's possible to assert that, that 'something is', is self-evident, as long as the something is not objectified and dwelt upon. But even that is a bit of a sticky wicket. And doesn't refer to something personal.

I'm sorry but I know I exist? You may know that freejoy exists, but does existence know that it exists?!

My first reaction to the question was "well the cat sure knows if it's alive or not!".

You know the fate of existential question, right? An older boy made me ask the question! On one hand, there is this idea that we can look inward and inquire, and on the other is the idea that there are no sincere questions because you already know the answer and are just fooling yourself that you don't. There is no conceptual resolution to this. Seeing it for what it is is enough.

My first reaction to the question was "well the cat sure knows if it's alive or not!". really, just thinking inside the box.
