This makes since to me, what I've noticed recently is that it takes effort to feel depressed , grumpy or maintain a dark outlook for a long period. Absent those feeling's I guess you call that happiness. When those feeling's are absent the mind/body is open to feeling effortless joy more often . Now all I need to do is figure out how to keep those feeling's from arising in the first place.... Just trace back your steps. another aspect is to enter the darkness of depression, stripped of faith an hope... an accept death as inevitable. When I surrendered to dying the only humane-way I knew... behold, healing occured an I was forced full of bliss. That was the turning point in my venture into the dark which occured over a thirteen year period.

[going up] "weeeeeeeeeeee I'm alive!!!" [going down] "oh crap! what's going to happen to ME???" this so good Farmer. Joshu Sasaki Roshi speaks of this rising an falling an how we can make use of it. What goes up gotta come down till it is seen... as above so below.

There are always indicators along the way that tell you that you are heading into the wrong direction. First the indicators are very subtle, then not so subtle, then quite obvious, then hard to ignore and then finally just undeniable. There's no need to go all the way down into depression.

Its not a matter of 'having to go there', its simply a matter of the earth you were standing-on changing into quicksand.

And the same way you talked yourself into depression the same way you can talk yourself out of it again. Just retracing your steps.

Just retracing your steps. what is it about your comprehension I find so attractive? It's the Law of Attraction. Clinical Depression is just more talk in that universe.
