Greetings.. It's unfortunate that people are looking for better ways to 'assassinate character' than to have a civil discussion that sincerely explores existence.. Be well.. The baby in us all continues to goo goo and ga ga about existence amidst the adult quarrels and dramas. It's all good. It's not hard to ignore one or the other. Whatever suits your fancy. The very question regarding attention to drama or a profound exploration of existence is yet another goo goo worthy consideration.

"And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you" I thought I would add this scripture. I'm being honest. I don't know: what does it mean in 'modern' vernacular?

I felt sort of embarrassed and ashamed when zd said his spiel about it and how he felt similar when he would get scrappy on that rare occasion - just not for long.

You are the one with the need to see someone as true OR a charlatan. I don't make such distinctions. It seems like a waste of time... we are all just pretending, in the end it's ALL just a lie. But underneath the lie ... that's where I prefer to go... the baby, not the bathwater. And I know that every single poster here, every one of the 7 billion on this planet, has a proverbial baby somewhere underneath the bathwater. I'm the one with the need? LoL Seriously. Where was the insight for a thread like this over the course of the last two months? There was a ton of character assassination taking place onsite here on a daily basis by a core group of people, and there still is on a daily basis. And you want to make this about me? You're not seeing clearly. YES, I often ask myself if I simply have a need to look for babies, to see good in everyone. And maybe that is true. All I can say is that I've always been this way and it doesn't seem like that is ever going to change, not at my age. It is possible that's just how I am "wired." I dunno. The reason it is "about you" is simply because you gave me the opportunity -- a post of mine prompted a post from you, in which you assassinated Reef's character by calling him a malignant bastard. And all I had done was post a link to a thread in which Reefs was posting Adya quotes. My intention isn't even to defend Reefs -- though I do have a pang for including him in the first place. The reason I included him was because I was thinking about how I never pursued nondual teachers, they found me instead, as if I have been led. And yesterday that happened again, I followed that Burt the Bunny link, found the RH forum, started reading through the threads, and discovered Adya for the very first time, in a thread started by Reefs.

You're not seeing clearly. Not that it matters, but I wouldn't take this thread personally. Foodfight is probably a better title. It's just a way of attempting to purify the beginning of the Q's Question thread by deflecting fraying subthemes. It's actually worked. But you raise a fair question regarding past fraying subthemes and the lack of similar deflection in those instances. But I don't think consistency is being claimed. The original intent of the thread's creator was to make this thread about me. The thread's title has changed three times, and I'm still clear on the intent. I'm not the one taking it personally. I felt the post about reefs on the Q's question thread was an aberration within the context of the discussion to that point. I say that because of his ongoing, below-board persona here at ST. The reference to a persona he's peddling at RH is a joke compared to what he's really doing here at ST. There is no consistency to be claimed. So I posted regarding that post in Q's Question. It was my way of deflecting fraying subthemes. Overlooking Reefs habitual tendencies have no place in a real discussion here.

My reading of SQ's initial post at the QQ thread was not about any particular poster or teacher. It was just around the idea that she felt no volition or will around whether or not certain teachings appeared in her life. She described an example that happened to include Reefs posting Adya quotes. It wasn't necessarily an endorsement of either, more like an illustration of how we all stumble about. When the student is ready the teacher appears. Teachings and dharma just wash over us. And each wave that crashes ashore is unique and perfectly suited at that moment. yada yada Overlooking tendencies is a good skill, in my opinion.

I can assure you, I'm not going to swallow bs at my age, either. And the very idea that what reefs is doing here on a daily basis has any merit is bs. Do you see him applying ANY of these thousands of quotes, from Ramana- to Niz- to Adya he's posted? Here? Show me an example. Just one. I'll save you the time. There isn't one here. Not one example.

It is amazing what can be seen when we're not looking 'for something'.. when we're looking for something, we tend to overlook other things, and.. in the case of 'good', that is an arbitrary value that changes with the differences in people's values.. Be well..
