A hologram works on the level of vision, making an image appear solid but if you walk up to it you can put your hand right through.
What if mind operates in the same way as hologram equipment but on all the senses, not just vision?
We would not just have a very solid looking manifestation, but one that would appear as we experience live..............but there would be nothing there!
Its a quickly evolving technology. Maybe it wont be long before we have a Holodeck like The Enterprise in every Supermarket giving a whole different meaning to "What is".

Should it happen on all the senses it will likely change the nature of the search for what is real or true, bit like the Matrix did for many people and a whole different analysis thing grew out of that. Did you try to bend spoons and put your hand through the sofa? amit

The real question is why is Cpt. Picard not afraid of transporting/beaming from one place to another. The entire body down to the atomic level gets destroyed and then reassembled.

Networks need to fill in with science shows in between the drama and reality contests you know!

Be well..

Have you heard of the physical theory based on this idea? Networks need to fill in with science shows in between the drama and reality contests you know! Hi laughter, Thanks. I'd be interested to hear it. amit Ok, first full disclosure/disclaimer ... my interest in this one is in a passing even more glancing that in the Campell/VR theory shared with SQ and there's a funny sitcom backstory to that. But any old who, the idea goes that: "In a larger and more speculative sense, the theory suggests that the entire universe can be seen as a two-dimensional information structure "painted" on the cosmological horizon, such that the three dimensions we observe are only an effective description at macroscopic scales and at low energies." At the time I encountered this I actually had alot more interest in the genesis, which is, as I understand it, based on a feud between Steven Hawking and a more obscure Physicist named Leonard Susskind. See Steve, at one point he announced to the world that Black Holes violate the law of the conservation of energy because what they devour is lost to the Universe. Leo, he didn't like this and the two dooked it out in the publications for some time. At one point, Leo imagines what you would actually see on the event horizon of a black hole. As a clock moves toward it, what you see is time slowing down more and more the closer it gets to the edge. He realized that you wouldn't see a static image, but what you would see would be a hologram of the object projected onto the surface of the horizon. Based on this work Steve eventually relents, and based on black hole evaporation, concedes that there are no cosmic criminals guilty of violating the law of the conservation of energy. Don't know exactly what happened after that but the Holographic Universe is what came about.

Be well.. Hi tzu, One can see how the Holographic Universe/Mind idea relates to the concept of non-duality but only ideas. For me there are no absolutes so "reality" is no more than another idea for me. My senses pick up that stuff appears to be happening, but only apparently. I have no idea what is actually going on and don't see how I could. There is bound to be some data that I'm not aware of somewhere in the Universe that relates to whats going on so there is no point going there for me. Its sufficient that I have some ideas about whats going on but that's nothing like saying I'm in touch with 'reality'. Even if my mind was still it would only be my idea about the degree of its stillness. I guess it depends on the character, even a strong feeling of stillness and clear seeing would not be convincing for me so I don't bother with any of it. I would spend too much time wondering whether my mind was still or not and whether I was seeing clearly. It would be a burden. Could you say something about whether any such doubtful thoughts arise for you around a still mind and clear seeing? amit I guess characters

Why do you "guess characters"? Be well..
