Some folks have expressed an interest in the ways of seeing the nature of creation and existence in this Dream, and the nature of how we "create" what we observe.
So in this thread I will post some methods once per week for folks to explore and see for themselves.
Folks here will likely argue against the point of it, and even critique the methods while offering their own methods as betterer lol, so I will per-empt by saying that yes, there are many many methods, and for some of you methods themselves will be pointless.
However, I hope you will respect that different folks explore in different ways, some mentate, and some want a more direct type of observation.
Tantra is not about mentation, it's about direct experience, and it's best to "do" the methods of experience, instead of mentating or thinking about or rationalizing them as good or bad, as this is like saying that eyesight is good or bad....it just is, and can be useful from time to time ;-)
The nature of all of existence is inside you, I won't tell you what to see, but in this thread we will work on the FUNCTION of how to see it.
Ask any questions you like along the way, and share your experiences, but please keep this thread free of argueing and debate so it does not get overly crowded with bickering white noise.

First, look at an object with your full focus and attention, while doing so, pay close attention to how your eyes feel, you won't feel much until the next step, which is creating a contrast.
Now, close your eyes, and as lightly as you possibly can, touch your eyelids, light as a feather, so lightly than you can use barely feel you fingertips on your eyelid, and while doing so, feel how you eyes feel after a minute of so of doing this....if you are sensitive, you should feel you eyes having almost a kind of weight to them pulling very subtly inward.
When you feel that very subtle inward sensation through the eyes, open your eyes a focus very firmly on an object, paying very close attention to how your eyes feel, in the transition between touching the eyelids lightly, and opening your eyes and focusing on an object, you should be able to feel this kind of subtle change of direction of the energy in your eyes, when touching the eyelids lightly energy from the eyes starts to turn inward, and when focusing on an object, energy moves outward through your eyes.
Practices this a bit going back and forth and see if you can feel it. The same thing happens when you go to sleep, the energy in your eyes starts to move inward, and when awake it is moving outward, but in the transitions, if you pay attention, you can actually feel it change directions.
When we are sensing something with one of our five senses, our energy is moving outward, when we sleep, our energy is moving inward, but you can learn to have your energy moving inward while waking, but first you have to pay attention and feel it, become aware of it.
Learning to become sensitive to subtle things that are happening to you is an important first step in being able to observe still more subtle things about your existence.
Practice this a bit, and when you have it down let me know, and I will give you some other exercises that increase your sensitivity of observation.
Think of it like improving your sensory function with practice and attention.
Without developing this a bit, it's difficult to see and experience directly the nature of your existence, and you will only be able to mentate the nature of your existence, which is not as good as seeing it, experiencing it directly and observationally.
Also, if you have not learned how to sit ZaZen, I recommend doing it, a good way to begin is to just spend a few minutes everyday sitting with your body absolutely perfectly still with your eyes closed, keep the eyeballs and tongue perfectly still too, but you can blink if needed....stay perfectly still for an increasing amount of time each day for a week, but don't worry about mind movement, after you can keep your body very still, keeping the mind still later will be easier.
Stillness is very important in self observation, think of it like trying to look through a super microscope at the tiniest particles if the microscope is moving. With the microscope moving, things are just a swirl, to "slippery" to observe, with the microscope still, a more detailed picture can be experienced, and the moment of creation is the most subtle "detail" of existence.
So for now, do the eye thing to begin to increase the sensitivity of your microscope, and the sitting with the body still to increase your capacity for holding the observational instrument still.
Do these for a week and then we will move on ;-)

What happened to the whole not knowing thing? Feel free to skip to that at any moment, however, this thread is not so much about knowing, or mentating, as it is about increasing the capacity and sensitivity of observation, so that one may directly experience more of the subtleties of the nature of existence, without mentation; for those interested. There is no requirement that you be interested ;-) |

What happened to the whole not knowing thing? Ended up in the same place as 'being' existence, instead of 'looking' for and experiencing the nature of it...  |

Hah, this thread is not about your speculations ;-) it was written in response to a request, however nothing can stop you from disrespecting what others my like to explore or the way they would like to explore it. But I do request that you "allow" it without voicing your judgements or casting idle speculation at folks. its simple courtesy really, and also might help you to let go of whatever subtle agenda that you may have and not realize while positing your speculations? |

Most of the people that PM me post regularly here, but will ask me a specific question about something I posted via PM occasionally, but there are members who rarely if ever post here that send PM's asking questions from time to time, I don't have any judgements about any of that, whatever people are more comfortable with is fine with me. I've never solicited a PM or initiated a PM exchange if that makes you feel any better. Hasn't anyone ever sent you a PM asking about a post you made? Just Doesn't seem like a big deal to me. |
