No, I'm not going to tell you what it is - the nature of evil.
I liked how the question was asked:
When I ask myself about that, it's a hard nut to crack. What do you think/know/feel about the nature of evil?

No such thing.

Yeah, I know how the majority of you feel about 'evil' and such, but I thought maybe some have had that perspective change, even slightly up through the time since you became to be aware or however you want to put that. I guess that's what I'd like to know, too, is if any of you have had any changes in perspective.

The highest perspective might be 'no such thing', but I think there are times when the word can be justifiably used to describe certain phenomena.

Hi Andy, Would you be willing to describe the certain phenomena that you've just mentioned? I'll try. I would rarely, if ever, say a person is evil. I see evil as more of an energy...an energy that seems to be so turned away from goodness and light, that I can only characterize it as evil. So I might say someone is 'in the grip of evil', for example.

It's hard for me right now to think of evil as an energy, because IF there's no devil and stuff like that, no angels, either - just nebulousness and nothingness 'out there' etc., then the composite of what many term 'evil' is gotta be a choice. I've heard of, and find I can easily subscribe to one or two conspiracy theories about powerful people and/or aliens and stuff like that, although I'm always open to what is really going on - the discovery never really ends, does it? Don't you (general public, too) feel as if sometimes you just 'know' things without proof? I'm fairly certain that we all do.......what is love? Is it the opposite of evil or hate, or is it yet another totally imaginary thing with you (gp)?

I'm not so sure that there is no 'devil and angels', but again, at the highest level, I don't think negativity is in opposition to positivity, its more like the negative exists temporarily just to provide a contrast to the positive. So, metaphorically or otherwise, Lucifer is not in opposition to God....maybe in opposition to Jesus, but not God, because there is no opposite to God. There's that old saying...'at the end of the game, all the pieces go back in the same box'. But amidst the game, it really can seem as if there is a war going on. Funny you should have said what you said here because I considered giving you a link to a pretty new project camelot interview. The word 'evil' comes up, and I would say...justifiably so. The interview requires a broad imagination and an open mind, nevertheless, I don't disbelieve it. Here's the link... www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4Vij4LsVO4

It took me a couple minutes before I recognized the interviewer's voice - at least I think that's the same one that I often hear on Coast to Coast radio show - an often-heard guest talking about such things. Yes, requires either a broad imagination or a partial knowing of such things either via one's own experiences or someone they know or just even an inkling about it - an intuition.

Is it the opposite of evil or hate, or is it yet another totally imaginary thing with you (gp)? Yes, and it is really the same choice, although it takes on many different forms, and it is available to all of us in any given instant. The choice to "not love God" is the choice to go to war with the world, to consider oneself under attack, to identify an enemy, take aim at the enemy and destroy it. The choice to "turn away from the light" is the choice to engage in self-deception instead of taking the opportunity to be honest with oneself. A perspective on good and evil that includes an awareness that one creates the other doesn't preclude a pointing toward the transcendence of these bound polarities and I take that transcendence to be integral in turn to what I took ZD to be referring to here: 3. The realization that reality is alive, intelligent, and infinite. 8. The realization that love is a fundamental quality, force, and manifestation of reality. 10. The realization that goodness is more important than correctness.

==========Is compassion the opposite of evil? ============================ Rat study throws new light on animal consciousness - rats behave with empathy by Tara Green (NaturalNews) An animal whose very name is often used as an insult may harbor more "human" traits like compassion than previously suspected. A recent study by University of Chicago researchers suggests that rats are capable of behavior which seems based on empathy for others of their kind. Compassionate rats? Arguments against animal testing tend to center on those animals most like us, such as the great apes, or on animals humans frequently keep as pets like cats and dogs. Meanwhile, arguments for animal testing often center on the notion of animals as dumb beasts operating solely on instinct, unlike the finely tuned higher impulses of the human species. Yet rats in the recent study, published in the December 9, 2011 issue of the journal Science, went out of their way to free another rat that was trapped. Psychologists at the University of Chicago conducted a series of experiments in which they put one rat inside a clear cage which could only be sprung from the outside. They left another rat to roam free outside the cage for an hour at a time. The free rat initially circled the cage, attempting to dig beneath it or bite through it. After several times of seeing its trapped cohort, the roaming rat learned how to open the cage and free the other rat. "It's very obvious that it is intentional," says study coauthor Inbal Ben-Ami Bartal. "They walk right up to the door and open the door." After the trapped rat was freed, both animals engaged in excited running. The experiment was designed to determine whether the rats would act merely from curiosity about the mechanism of the cage. Rats who encountered an empty cage were less likely to learn to operate its latch. Twenty-three out of 30 rats who saw a trapped rat in the cage learned to open the cage, but only 5 of the 40 rats who saw an empty cage learned to work the mechanism. Rats reacted to seeing a stuffed animal in the cage in the same way as they did to seeing an empty cage. Choosing kindness over chocolate The rats received no reward for rescuing their caged cohorts. In one part of the experiment, food was actually offered as an alternative. Roaming rats were presented with two cages, one with a trapped rat another containing chocolate chips. "These rats adore their chocolate," Bartal notes. Researchers were surprised to observe that the rats were equally likely to free their fellow rodent as they were to open the cage with the chocolate. Not only that, the rats engaged in sharing. "The most shocking thing is they left some of the chocolate for the other rat," Bartal says. The rescuer rats left some chocolate for their newly freed fellow rodents in more than half of the trials. "It's not like they missed a chocolate," Bartal says. "They actually carried it out of the restrainer sometimes but did not eat it." Gender may play a role in rat behavior, according to the researchers. Study author Peggy Mason noted that female rats displayed more empathy than males. All six females in the study freed a trapped rat; 17 of the 24 males did so. The researchers say the study demonstrates that pro-social empathy is not limited to humans and primates. "There are a lot of ideas in the literature showing that empathy is not unique to humans, and it has been well demonstrated in apes, but in rodents it was not very clear," said Jean Decety, a professor of psychology and psychiatry at the University of Chicago. "We put together in one series of experiments evidence of helping behavior based on empathy in rodents, and that's really the first time it's been seen." Good and evil are for the most part just an illusion. They persist because we must see our true reflection, our duality consciousness. People who are not working to awaken and enter into non-duality use concepts like good and evil so that they and others do not have to take responsibility for their actions in this world. All people places and things have a certain amount of creative and destructive potential in them, but the responsibility for how they are used is up to us.

So, it's gonna take a few billion years to reach that point without a little 'convincing' by *X*? At which point, our planet will be defunct anyway, right? Right.

Silver The Earth will take care of herself, she has that right and she will use it when she needs. We just have to a reach critical mass of people changing their consciousness and the rest will be forced into that awareness. The fear, panic, and anxiety that people are going threw all over the place is part of this awakening. What is that word, apocalypse, it is not the end of the world. It simply means to see the truth of who and what we really have become. And that will scare the hell out of people.

We'll most likely call any behavior we like 'good', and any behavior we don't like 'bad'. If it's really, really good, we'll use a word like 'saintly'. If it's really, really bad, we'll use a word like 'evil'.
What we like and don't like may vary with time and culture, and so what we call good and evil will vary. It would be a mistake to seek the nature of a label that we invented somewhat arbitrarily according to our likes and dislikes.
