I made it to 500 posts. Granted it took me a year and a half to accomplish, but I'm very proud of my dedication to our wonderful forum. Yes I know Enigma accomplishes 500 posts in a week or two, but some of us don't have his and Andrews obsession with splitting hairs. Or as some would say I have a life....offline. ;P Just teasing ya old chaps. You two keep the forum going with all of your posts. I've enjoyed interacting with many of you via posts and PM's and getting to know your digital personalities. I am excited to see what the next 500 bring. A few of the highlights for me (that I can remember should I say): 1. Garaffing 2. The single ended stick conversations 3. Being introduced to the meaning of life in 13 min video 4. The conversation about the starving baby and mother picture. Classic. 5. The blow ups: michael, Tath, desert rat, question and the others I can't remember their names now. 6. Charlie and his wonderful poetry. 7. Bomb dropping. Meaning the war of words between "different sides". Share some highlights you can remember if ya like.

Congrats OHC, the big 500....I think I hit that in my first week hehe. I'm not sure I can pick out highlights, but I do know there have been times when I have felt extremely appreciative and grateful for the companionship here, even if the form of that companionship is often bickering about the small print

Sorry to be unmoved by your achievement, I was drawn in by the koan. See, one day I was sitting with the thought that trying to know God was like a hand trying to grab itself when suddenly I knew the sound of one hand clapping. Or even the sound of just one hand 'cause the two sound pretty much the same. I was really excited 'cause....well I got something I wasn't even TRYING to get and it seemed kind of special. I wanted to find a Roshi and have my answer confirmed but that would entail getting shmoozy with some Zen group and having to sit a lot and maybe the roshi would be mean or something so I let it go. I let my own enlightenment go! But here we are! I know you can't see me but it sounds the same whether you see me or not. Is this the sound of one hand?
?? Hope I can check in later for your response. Love.

Hope I can check in later for your response. Love. This morning I figured the logical answer should be "silence", but I'm pretty sure it's wrong. Or maybe not totally wrong, but 90% at best. Then I searched the interwebs and there are some more answers, but they are even worse. Like the shout, slap the floor, or just clap with two hands (cos there is only oneness and the right hand is one with the left hand, so... lol). Worst answer was to have some oneness experience. But I've read an interesting comment somewhere that said that a zen koan is like mini samsara, and the seeing through the koan is like mini enlightenment.

But I've read an interesting comment somewhere that said that a zen koan is like mini samsara, and the seeing through the koan is like mini enlightenment. That one makes a lot of sense. If 'turning towards' suffering (or discomfort, confusion, anger or whatever) is the way to go, then seriously turning attention towards a koan escalates the discomfort/confusion - maybe to the point of giving up a mind-constructed answer. After giving up looking to mind for an answer, what's left?

I have made over 500 posts on a couple of forums . On pavlina , Steve closed it , on the other a mod decided he/she did not like me and banned me for a reason known to him /her . Its not that big of a deal .
