How to destroy selfishness?
Selfishness is not some material to be blown away applying some physical instruments and physical forces. It is conceptual nervous energy existing in the mind and the concept is totally wrong. A wrong concept can be removed by right concept only. Replacing one seemingly wrong concept with another seemingly right concept will keep conceptual thought operating, as you rightly say, as energy of the mind. Seeing that there is no self and that what is seeing, is seeing through everything ... and recording it ... shows time and time again, that being 'in service' and 'out of service' flows, just like everything else in the stream. Sip at will. |

Of course, while cutting the diamond, not only another diamond is required but also the force in the process of cutting is required. Another diamond is knowledge and the force in the process of cutting is devotion. Therefore, the right concept associated with devotion to God can only succeed in destroying the selfishness. When the selfishness is cut at the root, your service to God will be perfect and will please God. The service to God with selfishness will not fetch you the real grace from God. You can only receive some boons to satisfy your selfishness. In fact, the selfishness grows more and more by the boons just like the fire grows more and more by receiving the ghee. The process of pacification of selfishness increases it more and more. You can never subside the selfishness by such process of pacification. The selfishness really subsides when it is cut by knowledge associated with devotion. Listen Sharon and TRF, your minds are simply cubic zerconiums trying to do a diamonds work. You need to get in there and use those diamonds to cut the other diamonds out that tell you there is no diamond to cut. Obviously swami has cut out a large part of his diamond and is on the right path. All should follow suit. For peace on earth. Of course. As my diamond told me you were asking for what reason should I do this OHC? Heil Diamond!!!

Serving others in the midst of selfishness may allay guilt, but is unlikely to make one less selfish. The best way to be unselfish is to be selfless. (without a self) It's not something a self can do.

All 'ideas' that are not original thoughts arise in ones individual-mind having earlier seen them (awarely or unawarely) or 'heard them uttered at sometime in ones life. We pick-up 'good an not so good' nuts all over the place. With regards a self or Not.... I look at life in this way... at first recognition i was bonded to 'form of self' which did me well, kept me alive and at times safe in the world during adolescence, whereby i realised that i could live on my own...by myself, independant like...support mySelf (which I was none the wiser of then; At first recognition). Later on in life, i began to realise that this 'fabricated-self' which i thought i was, wasnt the real me. That which came an removed i out of the face of danger, that which i was able to intuit, that which pulled me through near death experiences, 'that Self' was comfortably-settled way beneath my 'thought-self's centre. This sounds like skitzoidalness much like the 'total-nonsence' you used to lead me in here, I know...But now i am here I must say how interesting it is to explore ones mind, and speak openly if one still has one. |
