Hello all - Am about half way through "After the Absolute" and loving it. Found this site and decided to give it a try. I don't know if I'm really the "type" for this kind of thing - I tend to go solo on this path, but was intrigued by the fact that there IS a forum such as this and will at least be reading it in the coming days. Have been a big fan of Adyashanti, Jed McKenna and now Douglas Harding. They all ring true to me, and I am thrilled to see that there are many on the road to abiding non-dual reality. There is NOTHING more important to me in this life than getting there. This has never made me very popular among, well, most people I meet. At this point I no longer care about the popularity contest - I just want to wake up, FULLY.

Welcome My path too has been solo. I am not familiar with much literature on the matter, but I am curious to hear what you have found to be true.

Jospeh Chilton Pearce writes the forward, a man after my own heart JCP was big time into Swami Muktananda. Baba would always wear a stocking cap when he would do his Shaktipat intensvies and so would JCP back in the good old days in South Fallsburg NY when he would whack you with a peacock feather Michael

Welcome elenaluz
Haven't read the Gold book, but do enjoy the other authors you mention; also love Byron Katie, David Carse and Eckhart Tolle. ...... understand what you mean about the drive for Self-awareness, going solo and disinterest in the popularity contest... very thankful to have reached a sort of (probably mostly intellectual) understanding that - to a great extent - quiets the thirst and allows me to more fully enjoy and love each moment, each task/motion and to engage with others in a more authentic manner... ......perhaps it is enough? ? we shall see... who knows?

Wow. How nice to be recognized on this Forum! Thanks to all who responded. I received shaktipat from Muktananda in 1979 - quite an experience, but just the merest beginning for me...I too owe many teachers a debt of gratitude. Tolle, Wilbur, Pema, even Werner Erhard managed to slap a bit of sense into me! But, all along, the deepest part of my being has ALWAYS known that this is a solo, inside job. It's only since reading Adyashanti's and McKenna's books that I've even considered that I could reach the Goal THIS lifetime. What a revelation! It has lit quite a fire under me now, and Life has been very efficient in It's answer to my requests for guidance, leading me each moment to the next task. I had a heart attack a few months ago which was an extraordinary initiation, and one of the BEST things that has ever happened to me. I realize that my "event " shocked and frightened many in my circle of friends, family, clients and colleagues, but I found myself in absolute AWE during, after and since the experience. To KNOW, with absolute certainty, and no defenses left, that I will drop this body was a great gift. I always thought there was something wrong with me because I wasn't sentimental, about anything, really. Now I see that this "lack" in me has been a kind of groundwork for the Work that I have committed to, and makes it simpler to not cling to the "losses" along the way. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be alive and moving in the inward direction!

Hi - Could someone explain what constitutes "full member", "senior member", "staff", etc. And what does the flaming file folder represent? Also, karma, exalt and smite? What is the purpose of all these ? I'm having a bit of trouble navigating this site. Admittedly tho, I am nearly a computer illiterate, so please bear with me, yeah? Thanks.

'Senior member' means that person is really, really old. The flaming folders indicate you're likely to get burned if you open them. 'Karma' is a silliness indicator. The higher the number, the more silly the poster is.

As the karma points indicate, don't listen to Enigma ;D You can find detailed info about your questions on the "website feedback" section. Member attributes are given by how long you have been registered and how much you posted. The flaming folder contains lots of posts. The karma point system is supposed to allow us to rate each other by giving (exalt) or taking (smite) away points.
