In my introduction to this site I had mentioned I found this site while doing research for a book I am working on called- The Power of The Bible to Reclaim Our True Self.
A member asked me -If you don't mind, could you tell your definition of "True Self"?
I thought this would make a good thread, and offer me insight to what others are thinking about what is the True Self.
Our true self is the direct opposite of our false self. Our true self is the real self, and the false self is our perceived self. You have heard the phrase—Our perception is stronger than reality or what we perceive to be real is more powerful than what is real.
Our true self lives each day our false self is driven by each day. We all want to be happy. Our true self finds happiness from within, the false self seeks happiness from people , possessions, or experiences. Our true self finds satisfaction were we live and work. Our false self thinks it will be happier living across town or finding a new job.
Our true self lives in the present not affect by our past or motivated by our future. Were the false self always lives in the past hoping to change there future.
To understand the true self we must see how the false self works, for example. A man becomes jealous over what his neighbor has. Why? The man wants what his neighbor has. But if the neighbor does not have it, say a riding mower, would the man want it as bad? Living by our true self jealousy is non-existent, because our true self is satisfied and content with what it has. Because our identity is never wrapped up in people, possessions or profession.
Our true self and our false self are all a state of mind. How we think and perceive things.
Understand that these are just my thoughts.
