Well to be honest with you I simply disagreed which is fine for the Forum. What I posted to the member that "got it" was much more specific in nature. IOW it could be something that some members would try to take it away but in disagreeing taking something away is a non issue.
You could be correct I may have read too much into my statement of being awake.I would take that back Again this is the problem with using only the internet. If we were having a real conversation like talking we would pick up on our voice tones and body language hence we would understand each other much better. .
Peace Michael

We are not something that exists.

Thanks. That was really helpful. I realize my last post got a little heavy. I was trying to talk about the conceptualizing process, and implying that this is The solution to the question 'Why is there something rather nothing' is to understand the falsity of the question. The questioner invents a dualistic concept (something) and then proceeds to question why one polarity of his made up dualistic concept is true and the opposite polarity (nothing) is not. The paradox is the result of believing in the reality of these made up concepts. The koan is designed to collapse that process.

We are not something that exists. 'We' are existence itself.

For some folks, like myself, it's easier not to get caught up in definitions. When you get close to the truth, semantics, tend to become like snakes, swallowing their own tails. If you can allow yourself, to 'not know' the 'unknowable', you will be exercising a very important aspect of your egoic control. That same discipline, lends itself to be a worthy ally, when dealing with other aspects of consciousness re: the doer, the experiencer, etc, etc... Allowing yourself to 'not know', keeps the mind from revisiting that, which really can't be 'known'.

We are not something that exists. 'We' are existence itself. OK, as long as existence is not something that exists.
