I say to zen master my inspiration is as dry as a fishbone. Zen master says I see you are chewing a fishbone.

light and love
here it is the fifth year since my wife left this plane
and I am full of her love washed in her light heart smashed open
in gratitude for what she was for what we had I am here . .
to celebrate who she was for what I still have
by the grace of God His mercy grounds me
I bless all she is and thank her I feel her so deeply
its like she never left there will be tears tomorrow
tonight there is light and love

maybe I could run away with you doesn't have to be far maybe the next room or Alexandria I could make you Jello maybe Black Cherry I could rub your feet as we watch a movie maybe Snow White meets the Three Stooges maybe we'd have popcorn or Pom Poms remember those? we'd walk home holding hands and maybe we'd kiss maybe . . . charlie giardino 2/26/14

ashes to ashes
we don the ashes today to remind us of our death as if our skin wasn't dust or our clothes wouldn't disintegrate
along with our bodies is a necessary masquerade we play our parts well it is only when we substitute the play for real life
that we run into trouble only the man who recognizes the nature of the game can achieve true happiness in impermanence
knowing it all passes that its a kaleidoscopic film that scrambles past our eyes bluer than blue we try to grasp at it
as id we could slow it down or hold on to happiness we will either accept it or die in our ignorance see the ghost of yourself
peer into mirrors grasping for a piece of the past a glimpse of what lies ahead
love now its all we have tomorrow we die today we have no recourse but to love . .

listenin' to Jay Farrar and Benjamin Gibbard? play their 2:00 AM music borrowing the verbs of eternity
singing the end in the very midst of now 'cause it's always ending and it's always now
sometimes we get around to knowing it . . .

the wind
neither sleeping pills nor neighbors screaming or dogs barking or skies emptying
or traffic blasting or that horrible music coming from next door neither head nor belly ache
can approach it even the putrid stench of that guy down the hall frying terrible tilapia
can remove me from this quiet this unassuming from the stillsmallvoice that grips my spirit right now

set the morning free
there is a heart within me that beats against the grain that looks to share its brokenness with the pain others feel
who has climbed the mount of loneliness who has crossed the sea of loss in an effort to change others to provide a new perception
here, in the darkest hour where vultures circle freely in their gray and grievous dance waiting, as only they can wait
who, holding out his lamp light dares to draw the curtains and set the morning free with the son's holy light
he shades his eyes with his hand fully aware that he may be the next in need of the love he humbly dispenses it is his turn in the light . .
he doesn't waste a moment . . .

falling into eternity just like the cosmos does it
burn out indeed nothing fades away
