Maybe you can become the enlightened being that you seek. Who knows, maybe you already are!

What's the purpose of searching for an enlightened being? What types of information are you searching for?

I want to meet an enlightened being. There are numerous enlightened peeps in the SF area and others who pass through that area regularly. SF is a real hotbed of people interested in non-duality! Check out all the well-known folks. Most of them have websites listing their schedules. Adya, Katie, Gangaji, lots of Zen Masters, and others give talks there on a regular basis.

Uh oh, if there are so many enlightened, then the status begins to lose its specialness...

But how do you define an enlightened being? There apparently are many "enlightened" beings who are believed to be enlightened just because they say it about themselves convincingly enough. And if they are good at PR, perhaps even change their name to something ending with "ji" or "anda" or something, they get a following with little effort. Oh, and if they put on a robe, then it does it for them. Anyway, to me there are many levels of enlightenment. And people who are fully enlightened are not that many in this world and most of the are unassuming, keeping a very low profile. You meet them when you are ready. Merrick

Merrick What's the point of having "levels" to enlightenment? Pat yourself on the back for moving on to the "next" level?

No, topology,
just an acknowledgement of a step by step growth.

If you meet an Enlightened being, what would happen? Would you become enlightened by metamorphosis? It could happen... and I believe it has many times. I listened to an Enlightened person once say that there is nothing preventing you from being wholly Enlightened in this moment, right now, or in any moment at all. So who are you? The person that you think yourself to be? Or are you the Enlightened One? Let go of one (which will be gone soon anyway), to be the other (Whom you already are and always have been and always will be).

Why would an Enlightened One be holding onto you in the first place? Good luck finding one of those (really, I mean it!).

Usually some snarky manifestation of enlightenment pops up and says something like "God is playing peek-a-boo with itself" or something. I don't buy it really.
