Really? Hate? I can understand a lack of interest, so it is not a part of one's life, as it is with me, neutral thoughts and feelings about it. It is not a part of my personal preferences so it does not concern me. And thus far in my life's journey, football has never forced itself into my life and adversely affected it. But to hate it...i simply don't understand this state of being. If you like, please explain your nature of hating football, how you think and feel, what you do as you hate it. Cheers. Jay I hate it because it's a sport and i have always felt that sports serve no purpose in the world. It only makes the winning team feel better than the losing team and it makes the losing team feel like, well, losers, lol Football is the worst because there is practically a national holiday built around it that's really all about money and competition, and people fight over whose team is better, I've seen families get torn apart by not agreeing which football team is better. Yeah but.. there's an eternal sportsman inside every man, that only he knows best.

Thanks, gaiagoddess. I understand you more now. It is my understanding Sport itself is not a conscious being with it's own will power to be able to make\force\influence people to do and feel all those things. I have always found it's human beings who have the ability\will power\life-force to choose(within an activity) - to think they are better than other. - to think they are inferior to others. - to desire money. - to feel the need to compete against others. - to attack others who have different opinions or preferences because they dislike or hate them for these differences. It is my opinon that any problems in sport, lies within people, not the phenomena of sport itself. True, people do have those feelings and thoughts inside regardless of if they are playing or watching a sport or not, but the sport brings it out more. And I have never resonated with any sport even since grade school because I didnt understand why we weren't spending time learning and creating, why did we have to compete and take sides and get divided into teams, the whole concept just felt wrong to me. That is also why I hate our political system but that's another subject, lol

It is my opinion sport does not have any innate power to bring anything more out of people. People choose to behave as they do according to their self created attitudes, thus how they choose to respond to situations and behave in activities, be it conscious or unconscious choice. It is their loss if people think external events dictate, control or influence how they behave. And I have never resonated with any sport even since grade school because I didnt understand why we weren't spending time learning and creating, Soo, i have to ask, you have chosen to hate what you don't understand or rez with? why did we have to compete and take sides and get divided into teams, the whole concept just felt wrong to me. I feel the same way as i reason the social structure of competition, be it done intentionally or not, that attempts to condition people to be in adversarial mind states with others, is non benefical to the well being of our species and environment and other creatures we share it with. I just don't see any rational use for hatred as i explore the phenomena and live a different way to it.

First of all, sorry I can't split up my responses, for some reason this forum has a wierd quoting system, if you are quoting to someone who already quoted you, it all shows up in one big block and I can't even type [ /quote ] and split them up! I have never seen a forum like this. So I will have to answer all of them together. I think everything in life can bring something out in people, all of life itself has that power. Alcohol, drugs, money, pain, desire, circumstances, the list could go on. The only reason I think sports is particularly bad is because it's just a physical activity that somehow got twisted and turned into this huge completely different thing. At it's core it's nothing but physical activity that humans turned into competition then it evolved into being all about money and it divides people just like politics. It isn't just sports I hate for this reason. I don't hate it because I don't understand it, I totally get the point of a football game, lol I'm just saying, for the reasons I explained in that pararaph before this one. And there is no rational use for hatred, no, it's just the only word i know to explain the opposite of love, lol Maybe it means something different to you, I just mean I dislike it strongly like I dislike a lot of things strongly, lol

For example the sport of free diving or sky diving or snow boarding even golf to a certain extent..these are what I would call the inner game of sports although it can be found in all sports it's much more dominant in the likes of the ones above.

Oh those "sports" i would call more like hobbies, activities, golf is a sport but it's in a league of it's own, really, lol It's like super respected, people even clap after every move, lol I still think the whole idea just sounds silly, millions of people gathering around to watch other people use a stick to hit a ball in a hole, lol I guess I can't explain how i feel about the whole sports thing.

I totally get what you are saying about sports in the world we live in today, and I would say there is grotesqueness to it, but if we look within ourselves, we can find an aspect of playfulness that seeks to express itself through games (and games usually come with some degree of competition). Games as well can be a good opportunity to express our human potential. I guess what I am saying is that when we rediscover our innocence collectively, I reckon there will still be games...but the manifestations will be very different from what we see in the world today.

Well i'm sure some of the losing teams are ok with losing but what they really strive for is winning.

What's wrong with competition? People have fun. The winners do, and the fans of the winning teams do. Well i'm sure some of the losing teams are ok with losing but what they really strive for is winning. I think we have a missing piece here. It's a ole saying nevertheless so true. It matters not if you win or lose. It's how you play the game that counts. IOW you certainly can lose and also feel like a winner at the same time. Taken from my new book The Zen of Sports..jk

Do you think you might be living an over protected life where nothing is ever allowed to make you feel insecure? If someone engaged in a sport couldn't stand to lose they would never take part would they? But they do. What does that tell you?
