the ice pic is from last year, snow has been on the mountains, but at the moment has thawed...here we almost never get snow, though it freezes lightly during februari nights, sometimes. Right now it is quite chilly, no clouds, i need to light the fireplace.Must be around midnight overthere? here its 22.22 hrs. (london--lisbon time). Dog just came in all excited, he saw a pig and is eager to chase it--i wont let him... this one is from my upper window, similar view almost daily, the river (rio alva) is under the clouds, about 200 m straight down.) Is all the whiteness a river? must be quite big.. but it's like fog, too.. (it's past midnight, 00.32) sorry, was away for anhour, the river is only 40 meters wide, and waaay down under the clouds...if the clouds werent there you still could not see the river...if its quiet (no noise from wind or rain) i can hear it flow down in the valley. The closest mountain on the foto is about 1000 m away.(wild guess)..it is quite steep down, many hairpins in the road.Small villages, river beaches...in summer there´s no ´´cloud river´´.

Mondego river, mid portugal. Took picture years ago, from a small aeroplane. I´d go to a local small airfield, talk to a pilot, offer him gasmoney if he would fly me around for an hour. ( a club aeroplane- multiple owners)He always says yes, because he needs ´´flying hours´´ to keep his permit. I´d take pictures with a small digital camera, mainly houses with swimming pools (the richer folk), and then go there later by car ring the bell and offer them the photos for 90 Euro a piece, on disc. I´d sell 5 or six per flight.A flight costs me 90 Euros, so not bad for a days ´´work´´. Not the same river as in previous pic, hills here much less steep. After google earth this became more difficult.

I´ll see if i can take a picture of it. Last week my neighbour cut short a bunch of conifers that were blocking part of the view.I now have a wider view.

What different views we all have! Here's mine from yesterday, the view from right behind my computer. We had just a couple of inches of snow, but it was wet and stuck to the trees so transformed them into something softer. Every once in awhile in winter we get very wet snow, almost rain, that freezes overnight into ice on every branch and surface. If the sun comes out the next morning - oh my - it's a dazzling display. Not this year though. I like the screen grid overlaying the branch forms behind.

The village to the left woud be just under the cloud.Sorry its not very sharp. I have actually never been there, on the other side of the river, at least not high up.But i am going to go there, wanna see what my house looks like from there... (i also was never in a village on the rivershore during the cloudriver...must be pretty damp and grey i guess--when i considered buying the place i recall someone asking me how high up the house was on the hillside, because of the frequent fog--it turns out to be high enough)

I like the screen grid overlaying the branch forms behind. yeah, its analogous to how ideas and beliefs can obscure our seeing

I don't see this view (in 'real life') except while going to vacation.. I may put a few pics too (later). I really like forest view.. "I have actually never been there, on the other side of the river, at least not high up.But i am going to go there, wanna see what my house looks like from there...": That can be a nice experience : ) If I were you I would have done this ten times until now! (lol!.. just exaggerating!)

Remember i come from the Netherlands, which are 95% flat as a pancake. (Great skies, though).

We stayed at a house on a hill at that time and the house turned out to be full of bees! Unbelievable, at night they began to fall from a place between the ceiling and the roof in whole of the house and they were like drunk, flying & hitting from wall to wall.. (we left it the next day).. Just curious, do you have any insect problem?

If they are dining out late outside the house on the veranda with a big light on, there are like 10 wasps buzzing around, attracted to the light. (hornets, actually) but they never attack a human. When i worked at night with blacklight lamps, painting, it attracted more wasps than usual.I had to plug every tiny hole between roof and walls, also the ancient granite walls. I never heard of bees living in a house in a city--there must be flowers around.
