I wouldn't go there even if it was an entirely free all inclusive trip! You haven't seen Midnight Express? Brittney.. oh Brittney Griner anyone.. don't be a Brittney I can forgo pot for lengthy periods, haven't had any for dozens of years. Plus, I can look like a rich, fat, American tourist. I disguise well. What's your excuse, banana man? Sree's getting to you or is it the potassium rush? some movies are bad for your mental health go, have fun, take lots of pictures so you can show everyone when you get home just don't call the Embassy if your trip goes south.. suck it up

Two that had me covering my face were "Cat People" and "American Werewolf in London"? They weren't at all what I expected.

Where you live is certainly beautiful. Some times I wish I were there, but is it really beautiful or is it the photographic wizardry? More dogs. I wouldn't go there even if it was an entirely free all inclusive trip! You haven't seen Midnight Express? Brittney.. oh Brittney Griner anyone.. don't be a Brittney I was nervous of Turkey because of that darn film. In the end, we drove round it for about a week, and everyone was super friendly. In the more rural areas, people would want us to stop and drink tea with them. We drove into Syria after that, I was a bit nervous about that too.

I think it was 2009. My wife is American, we were at the border for about 36 hours before we could pass through. Again, super friendly, they all wanted to drink tea with us. Inside Syria, I recall once that someone didn't look best pleased at there being an American present. We didn't advertise it, and we weren't there long, but it was very interesting.

It's enough for me to watch younger people on youtube going to interesting places. Seeing America again appeals to me, in 2007 we drove around it for 6 weeks which was great, but still only scratching the surface. In the UK, we house sit for pets when their owners are away, I've seen a lot of the country that way. If I'm in America at some point, I guess we might look at doing some house sitting there, it's a good way to really get a feel for an area. Expect a knock at the door

It sounds stupid to say I went to Syria, but not Damascus, but we basically didn't want to detour too much from the main road we were on from Turkey to Lebanon. We spent a few days casually doing that journey and it felt enough. In the hotels they had hookah lounges, which were brilliant, like the western equivalent of a bar. They were very friendly. What was a pain were the super loud 'calls to prayer' every few hours or so.

Maybe even have some exotic tea while you're here but alas, it seems my adventurous travel days are mostly behind me, which is fine, I like it here

But at 5 a.m, my superficial western ears wanted some ear plugs!
