So this is where i live. An old run down Railway cottage. It's well over 50 years old, and everything about it shows it's age. The house is occupied by myself ,my GG, her two tiny dogs, an old black and white cat and a decent amount of wildlife, in and on the house, consisting of blackbirds, possums, rats, mice and several species of spider, my least fav the huge hairy Huntsmans that scare the beejesus outa me when that quickly scurry across my desk at night while i am writing...and knowing then that they are constantly lurking in my room and under my desk and behind the bookcase connected to me desk. There's lots of these... ...adorable things that constantly scurry in the roof above my room, and often in my room itself, constantly catching glimpses of them in the other book shelving and cane hutch. The other week, writing at my desk(right angles to it), and being cold down here, i stretch out on me office chair with a doona covering my lower body. As i write, sometimes it feels like there's something other than my old man legs under there, always dreading it's a Huntsman. This time the movement under there is quite pronounced, too heavy for a spider, or it's the biggest spider eva and i am about to die. I tentatively lift the doona to see what's in there, and a cute little mouse is seen squirming its way between the doona and doona cover. "OHHH, HOW ADORABLE !!!",i think to myself. Now i am sitting here, a week or so after that encounter, and i'm thinking to myself, "What is that god damm awful smell?" GG informs me mice pee is way smelly, and i sniff me doona and yep, it stinks to high heaven in mouse pee. Seems my little friend has been living in me doona for quite some time.

Update for smelly room. So i take the doona to the laundromat. . It's all smelling purdy again. I come home and decide to do some more investigating. I crouch down and smell the carpet that is directly under where the doona sits, and it too is way smelly, so i decided to shove some thick UV rated plastic on the floor in that spot doused in a ton of Bi-carb soda, to soak up the smell and stop the clean doona from being smell infected again. I move the tiny oil heater and this is what i find directly under it... ...turns out it was not smelly mice pee, but a poor little dead mouse that's prolly been there for a couple of weeks and has started to decompose, but due to cold weather and low moisture content, mummified more than decompose. So it did not have that usual rotting decomposing smell. I suspect the mouse that was squirming around in me doona was a friend or relly of the dead mouse, hangin' about due to loss. Mystery solved, smell is now finally dispersing . Room returning to usual old run down smells.
