You forgot? I'll remind you of my opening statement in this discussion. "Discernment, as I see it, is pure seeing, witnessing, and therefore is dispassionate. It's possible to watch your house burn down and be free of any judgement about it. Judgement, again as I see, is when emotion, especially negative emotion, is added to the seeing. Discernment is the art of judging well. If you honestly think that it would be well discerning to watch your house burn down and not feel anything, then I'll pay some local youth to help you find out for certain, yeah? Discernment: the cognitive condition of someone who understands; Discernment: delicate discrimination (especially of aesthetic values); Discernment: perception of that which is obscure Discernment: the trait of judging wisely and objectively; "a man of discernment" www.thefreedictionary.com/discernment

Besides, maybe because your boat sank, you didn't go fishing in the loch, which saved you from Nessy. See, body swerves should never be underestimated.

I didn't mean to imply a man feels nothing when watching his house burn down, he may or may not, depending upon his level of Understanding. But when an emotion is seen as just an arising in your consciousness, there is no problem with a "painful feeling" being there. It is seen as a part of what is happening in the moment, and as such the "painful feeling" is met with allowance and acceptance. But when the emotion is met with resistance or resentment, the emotion is amplified, and for a time overwhelms conscious awareness and thereby creates otherwise needless mental suffering on top of the naturally arising painful emotion. How long that otherwise needless suffering last depends upon how long it takes for the Soul to come to terms with what happened. The sooner it is accepted, the sooner it passes. What is resisted, persists.

But it can appear that it is capable of resistance, and to all appearance can look like it is capable of resistance, anytime it has identified with any resistant thoughts and feelings that arise within it's conscious awareness.

Ok. Is the Soul intelligent in it's own right? As in, can those resistant thoughts and feelings, also be called intelligence?
