Up in the mornin' and out to school The teacher is teachin' the Golden Rule American history and practical math You study' em hard and hopin' to pass Workin' your fingers right down to the bone And the guy behind you won't leave you alone
Ring ring goes the bell The cook in the lunchroom's ready to sell You're lucky if you can find a seat You're fortunate if you have time to eat Back in the classroom open you books Gee but the teacher don't know How mean she looks
Soon as three o'clock rolls around You finally lay your burden down Close up your books, get out of your seat Down the halls and into the street Up to the corner and 'round the bend Right to the juke joint you go in
Drop the coin right into the slot You gotta hear something that's really hot With the one you love you're makin' romance All day long you been wantin' to dance Feelin' the music from head to toe 'Round and 'round and 'round you go
Drop the coin right into the slot You gotta hear something that's really hot With the one you love you're makin' romance All day long you been wantin' to dance Feelin' the music from head to toe 'Round and 'round and 'round you go
Hail, hail rock'n'roll Deliver me from the days of old Long live rock'n'roll The beat of the drum is loud and bold Rock rock rock'n'roll The feelin' is there body and soul

saddest and most beautiful song I know ... It makes no difference where I turn I can't get over you and the flame still burns It makes no difference, night or day The shadow never seems to fade away And the sun don't shine anymore And the rains fall down on my door Now there's no love As true as the love that dies untold But the clouds never hung so low before It makes no difference how far I go Like a scar the hurt will always show It makes no difference who I meet They're just a face in the crowd On a dead-end street And the sun don't shine anymore And the rains fall down on my door These old love letters well, I just can't keep 'Cause like the gambler says read them and weep And the dawn don't rescue me no more Without your love I'm nothing at all Like an empty hall it's a lonely fall Since you've gone it's a losing battle Stampeding cattle they rattle the walls And the sun don't shine anymore And the rains fall down on my door Well, I love you so much and it's all I can do Just to keep myself from telling you That I never felt so alone before Read more: Band - It Makes No Difference Lyrics | MetroLyrics

What's it all about, alfie? Is it just for the moment we live? What's it all about when you sort it out, alfie? Are we meant to take more than we give Or are we meant to be kind? And if only fools are kind, alfie, Then I guess it's wise to be cruel. And if life belongs only to the strong, alfie, What will you lend on an old golden rule? As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, alfie, I know there's something much more, Something even non-believers can believe in. I believe in love, alfie. Without true love we just exist, alfie. Until you find the love you've missed you're nothing, alfie. When you walk let your heart lead the way And you'll find love any day, alfie, alfie.

Yup. In terms of both sad and beautiful, they nailed this one. One o' my favorites of all time, actually.

This one's for you, Ag. (And, indirectly, for the drama pusher):
Oddly enough, this was one of my favorite songs when I was a kid, because how it was expressed was so ... heartfelt. No idea what it meant at the time. But, it's still a great song to me, if but for that reason alone.
