best matrix character by far was Joey Pants:
(scene with agent Smith discussing his deal of betrayal)
"Yeah, just plug me back in ... I don't want to remember any of this. Make me someone important ... but not too important ... like an actor."
(scene on the deck of the Nebakanezer with Neo)
"I know what yer' thinkin' ... why o' why didn't I take the blue pill!"

Or no pill. What are we teaching our kids? A stranger offers you two pieces of "candy", if one is laced with magic-pixy-dust, why wouldn't the other be as well? Just say no, kids, just say no. And don't forget stranger->danger.

I thought this was an opportunity to, as Enigma puts it, walk off the battlefield. You're not just the one, you're the sixth anomaly, a product of an equation or a balance between forces. Do you keep the battle going? Or stop fighting? Neo kept the battle going.
I thought the movies failed to deliver on the message of "waking up" when Neo never seriously explored the possibility/likelihood that he "woke up" into a fail-safe program. Since he rejected the first story for not having enough excitement and drama in it, he was given a second story where he "wakes up" from the first to be a hero and saviour of all the people trapped in the first story. He couldn't buy into the first story but he bought the second story hook line and sinker because it pandered to his ego, his need to be important.

The metaphor for spiritualized ego ... most entertaining version of re-play neo by far was the Reeves who gave the architect the finger.
This segue is important to transform Neo past the warrior archetype into the archetype of Christ.

Couldn't you find a version without the split mind subtitles?

I completely emphatically totally and absolutely certainly dis-agree with you on the point of the subtitles Sharon and invite you to the "Cry Havoc" thread to duke it out! ;D

Greetings..
ummm.. it's a movie, entertainment.. as long as you are 'plugged in' to the 'movie-mind'', you are avoiding what 'is real', Life.. what forms of entertainment will we choose to distract us from actually creating the change that unites humanity and existence in a beneficial evolution?
Be well..

Is Neo the one who ultimately discovered that Darth Vader was his father?

Is Neo the one who ultimately discovered that Darth Vader was his father? Yes. I cried when smeagol bit of his finger. Such a moving piece of theatre.
