i have heard myself saying, a lot, "there is nothing you can do but see" seeing clearly is the only superpower in the toolbox. the only one i've ever found. also: all the trying in the world has to eventually be surrendered, because it's an argument. and i am drawn when talking with folks to the recognition of this argument, probably because i fought against THIS so hard, so ridiculously hard, all the while saying it was what i wanted most. however, we cant 'do' surrender, there's no one there to surrender, and trying to surrender is just more argument. all we can do is see how futile or false or ego bound it all is and simply be melted into THIS by that recognition. so. yeah. seeing clearly. I align most strongly with this, simply because it is my experience and my understanding of how it is, though I recognize that even if that's true, it doesn't mean it's the best path for everybody. Everybody has a particular orientation and it seems the most effective approach is to dive deep into whatever that is, because truth is at the bottom of all of them. For those with a strong mental focus I encourage them to find the 'hard bottom', as Thoreau says: "Let us settle ourselves, and work and wedge our feet downward through the mud and slush of opinion, and prejudice, and tradition, and delusion, and appearance, .... till we come to a hard bottom and rocks in place, which we can call reality, and say, This is, and no mistake." For those of a feeling orientation, the mysticism of the likes of Rumi and Hafiz could break the heart open, though mostly it seems my role is to shatter sentimental delusions, which breaks my heart as well. Regardless, what you say is still the truth. All that is here is a seeing intelligence struggling to peel away the cataract of delusion from within the delusion itself, and it is not a coercive, divisive, doer of any kind. I cannot offer a practice to God that he may learn to be more Godlike without encouraging him to fall more deeply into that delusion. The Neo-Adviatic horror of 'there is no doer' actually IS the truth here and now. All you are is that seeing presence that either wishes to see or not. There is nothing outside of that cataract that wishes to awaken, since sleep is not the central issue surrounding a willful delusion of fascination with hell that we call our personal struggle. I have no interest in being called a teacher, which not only feels like a lie, but also burdens me with providing answers for which there are no Questions.
