We've actually got a pretty cool theme going on here now. While Andrew is looking for a one-ended stick, others are trying to bend the stick over to make the ends join without breaking it in two. What other fun methods can we come up with to morph our distorted experience of THIS into THAT?

Its probably more accurate to say than my stick has different ends to yours. One end of my stick is experience of contrast (which includes joy and pain), the other end of my stick is non-contrast (i.e. no conscious experience of contrast)

I think it was a stroke of genius for Question to post beautiful pictures followed by one of ugliness, though I don't really know what his thinking was. It very graphically made a point I've been trying to make to Andrew for some time about the two ends of the duality stick that are unavoidable, and what followed was various attempts by folks to turn the ugly side of the stick into something beautiful, which involved some more ugliness, which could potentially be seen as the origin of such things as war and starving children.

All the soap opera dramas here have a point and have played out perfectly because they can't play out any other way.

I think Question was trying to spark a fire, I don't think however he intended to burn the house down.

For me, it was suffering while looking at one end of the stick, having it shift to the other end, where I saw LOVE of a mother.
And then realizing that the only thing real in all of that, was that which was holding the stick.

That's much easier for me to resonate and vibrate with.

Meh. Who wants to squash a holy cow? Best to just chop it's head off, or hit it between the eyes with one o' them CO2 thingies that that guy used in that one movie to break into houses and kill people and stuff.

What do you mean by this comment? I'm obviously reading Andrew's posts through different lenses than you and zen. Maybe you have a previous conversation experience with him that is creating this conclusions?? And I'm not seeing the folks trying to bend the stick over to make the ends join without breaking it in two?

Um. I dont know. Im saying that a conscious experience of contrast involves a 'recognition'. At the other end of my stick is what I called non-contrast i.e. an experience of contrast but without recognition.

For as long as we are interested in consciously experiencing contrast the conditions will reflect/mirror this. Hence we create war in order to experience both war and peace (and on the forum we create our own mini sandpit version of this). When there is no interest in consciously experiencing contrast the conditions will reflect/mirror this....i.e a world of peace.
