So I joined a while back but haven't engaged much. So here's an intro:
When I was younger, I was devoutly Christian--it carried me through some very tough times. I'm glad I had something to cling to at the time. Doubts crept in, and my search for answers led me to leave the faith when I was a teen. I dabbled in various faiths and ideas then, but I didn't find much that I could recognize as truth. I set aside all spiritual ideas when I had a breakdown some years ago. Since then, I have slowly returned to letting myself think about these things again.
I'm one of those Ruthless Truth people. I don't see the knowing that there is no you--I do not see that as enlightenment. I am grateful for it, though. I have learned a lot--but I also know that for it all, I know nothing. I am grateful for this as well. I don't get caught up in the use of language--I will use the terms "I, me, mine, our" etc. It doesn't contradict that I know there is not an I.
I am the same as you; there is no true separation between the two. We are intimately connected... What I do for one, I do for all.
Namaste.

Hmm for someone that says she knows that there is no I you sure use I a lot. There more I's in your post that I don't wish to count. What does this mean besides having a huge not in control ego nothing really.
Oh welcome

Welcome to the board Dreamerrach. Ignore Michael; he woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. He's usually nicer than this. Namaste.

Michael, Pardon me for thinking a request with the word "please" is demanding something. I want nothing from you, I assure you. And yes I use the word I a lot. I simply do not care so much about words words words--I even addressed this in my intro Curious, is there a specific ego problem you believe I have or is it that I use I too much?

Yes of course there is but your ego will not hear of it so until your ego is worked on there is no hope. Do you really think there is not a reason why you use the word "I' so much. It's time to become a little wiser as the answer is looking right at you all the time. Michael

Here's some more I for ya: I am now going through a divorce, and it has been reemphasized that I know nothing at all.

Welcome...of course I feel weird saying welcome I just am starting to chime in myself once again.

By the ways, sorry if I offended you earlier (I see you're a ruthless truth person). I was basing my opinion on the couple of guys that got on here and starting flaming ST people. Hardly anything more.
Don't listen to me anyways I'm full of shiat. Seriously though welcome.

Jeff, thanks. And I was not offended. I'm aware of how RT is viewed-and I know/understand why that is. I don't employ the methods most of the RT members use; it seems like it would be dishonest. I was never interested in enlightenment or any such thing before RT; terms like nonduality are relatively new to the vocab. I'm here to learn. Or stroke my ego

Well, Christianity, then doubts creeping in, continued looking for truth in other faiths/traditions, and in my case there was a lengthy period of agnosticism and atheism, back to Christianity (very desperate for answers), then a breakdown of sorts, depression, continued searching for truths, then a serious of frightening and extatic states that lead me to find out about others who have had this same sort of pattern. Non-duality, sikhism, christian mysticism, hinduism, buddhism, taoism, advaita and many other traditions seemed to follow in this vein of ups and downs that had a spiritual seeming tone and a strong urge to not forsake the idea that there is more to this reality than we're privy to on a normal basis. I hate to be brief but I have to get to bed and if you ever want to discuss anything, feel free to e-mail me or I'll be checking in here more often. jackson_jt@hotmail.com
It's a fantastic journey. Frustrating but fantastic, especially once you narrow down some very solid inklings and feelings and find out there are others who have experienced them. I've also had the pleasure of meeting more than a dozen (proclaimed) realized men, and a few that I have absolutely no doubt about. Just their presense fills me with gratitude and a settling that isn't worship worthy or god-like, but more in the sene that you know they have found something that has settled them. The recommendations made by Shawn Nevins for spiritual teachers are great. There are many more, but I have to say it's hard to go wrong with the people Shawn has highlighted. There are no absolute defining characteristics I know of for a self-realized person except for a certain quality about them, like a quiet and settled quality. Best to you, and you seem to be someone who isn't afraid to be honest with yourself. That above all things has held me in good stead in the last few years. j
