Beautiful Peter!
I especially like "It's important to allow the world to influence you. It does not further (there is no point in) talking to someone who cannot be influenced."
That quoted part has perhaps been the most useful recognition I have ever made....
My Journey goes well. I've come from a place of having my 'ordinary' life separate to my 'spiritual' life (eg I'm "being spiritual" when I'm on my meditation stool or on retreat), to a place where everything is both. Someone gave me a suggestion of looking back at your day as if it were a dream. Take everything that happens in it, and consider the deeper symbolism of each event. I found that helpful.
I'm looking less at the esoteric at the moment, and a bit more at my own behaviour. I'm particularly looking to develop qualities of empathy and humility which I think I lack.
The IChing said something like "It's important to allow the world to influence you. It does not further (there is no point in) talking to someone who cannot be influenced" and I've very much taken that to heart - moving more into a mindset of life student and allowing the world to give me it's lessons; trying to have the humility to listen - and hear - when I'm told that I'm wrong.
Having Children (two, one of each) has been really good for this mundane flavour of Spiritual Development. When you have two instead of one, there is an absolute minimum of time for 'doing your own thing' and I find that my ability to live my life as Service To Others has improved, but that's involved periods of resentment. But then if I can't (or am unwilling) to serve my family, what use can I be in service to the world at large? I think a large part of the resentment is that there is no recognition (in the wider sense) for doing housework, so that's been interesting getting a sense of Service without "payment" - which is true service. Probably.
I was thinking about what I believe the other day (eg Hyperdimensional influences) and came up with a quote to put on my Facebook page, but decided it was too pretentious for general release: How can you believe in that which cannot been seen, when you're in denial about that which is plain to see?
Take care,
P

In any measurable thing there will always be someone with more and someone with less. So I don't know that it's helpful to measure your progress against anything other than yourself. It's good to hear you feel things are moving along.
