Saw Free Solo yesterday. Absolutely amazing. Free Solo climber (no ropes, no aids, one tiny slip you die) Alex Honnold makes attempt to free solo climb El Capitan, Yosemite, a dream/wish/desire he had for 8 years. Most of the film is about his preparation (and film crew) for the climb. One interesting part, he has an MRI of his brain, he has an exceptionally hugh fear threshold. If you are going to see the film, don't google what happened (and I don't want to give anything away). Previously, most of his free solos were not announced in advance and not filmed. I hope to see that film tomorrow. I think the film crew's last movie was "Mt. Meru,"and that film was excellent. If you haven't seen it, check out "Man on Wire." Amazing story and film footage of the guy who walked a high wire between the two trade center towers. How they got the wire installed is as amazing as the 45 minutes the guy spent walking back and forth between two groups of police, one on each tower.

I had planned to see it in the theater but didn't get to it, saw it on DVD later. Yes, very good. I think you will exceptionally like Free Solo.

Well on my company phone 📱 at work they had downloaded apps as they created my apple account on things I may be interested in. I didn't know until recently I have the spiritual teachers app. I have a free net flix account but looking through it all now it's a lot of movies and documentaries to go through 😂
Growing up in the 80s as a teen I used to work in a video shop of a weekend. The owner was very religious and never watched any films.
He used to hand me what was in those days from porn to Westerns to horrors to check the quality.
I used to enjoy the brat pack films St Elemos Fire, The Outsiders, Sixteen Candles, The Flamingo Kid, The Wanderers etc
But one series I don't know if anyone has seen the Lemon Pospicle films. Baby Love, Hot Bubblegum. Yes a lot of s#x but great soundtrack 50's music. I had to watch them all.
The wanderers has a good soundtrack to it. And even the film Pretty Woman the song by Roy Oribison is a classic song
What about other genres do you guys watch any Bollywood or Chinese movies? Theres a few white movies on here.....😂

Yep. That's the guy. Free soloing El Cap is rather mind-boggling, but climbers will understand the mindset and satisfaction he describes in his talk. I've climbed a bunch of fourteeners in Colorado, and every climb is an adventure of some sort.

He discussed what I was referring to, he had every move he was going to make, mapped out ahead of time. Very interesting the contrast of climbing Half Dome (where he climbed some areas in the free solo he had never climbed before).

That was the most intense movie I've seen in a long time, and it was also amazingly emotional. I came out of the theater in a deeply meditative state. I'd give it two definite thumbs up.
I'd also recommend seeing it on the big screen.

Very interesting the contrast of climbing Half Dome (where he climbed some areas in the free solo he had never climbed before). That was interesting. His 'preparation' as he called it involved practicing the climb, training exercises, preparing the face (removing the loose rocks), and visualising each step over again. Then on the day, decided to do it a bit differently, not completely 'stick to the plan'. But what interested me the most was his quest for satisfaction, mastery, and how his attainment involved overcoming fear, which wasn't so much not feeling any fear, but more like not being distracted or compelled by it. It was very interesting how his climb was an emotional summit and I really enjoyed his telling of the 'inner journey'.

He climbed El Capitan exactly as planned.

Going to see The Great Buster, a new documentary about Buster Keaton. Keaton was an absolute genius. My favorite Keaton film is Sherlock Jr. If you've seen The Purple Rose of Cairo, Woody Allen stole an idea from him, the main character of the film stepping off the screen into real life. A most famous scene is from I think 7 Days (which any building contracter has to see) is a constructed 2-story wall falling on Keaton, he being saved by just happening to stand where an open window fell over him. A real wall, a little error and he would have been killed. ....

A great older comedy with an underlying spiritual/existential theme that features Jimmy Stewart and some other good actors is "You Can't Take It With You."
One interesting aspect of growing older is watching friends fossilize and become rather rigid with age. No danger of that with the family at the center of this movie!
