FWIW I also agree. I suggest the question of what's best for the world is best left unasked. Mostly, I just have no interest in what's 'best' for anyone or anything. Too easy to get attached to such a concept. It just seems like all this kind of (beyond cynical) attitude is a big red flag that all things humane are being siphoned out of humanity.

I simply mean the lexical definition of humane. Adjective: Having or showing compassion or benevolence. Inflicting the minimum of pain.

Okay, was just checking. That the guillotine was 'humane' was the justification for its use. Under such a definition, it might actually be considered humane if all humanity was obliterated suddenly and quickly, yes? (I mean, if it were to be obliterated at all).

There's a lot of drama tied up in the idea of "what's best for: a human, a collection of humans, or humanity" I think Beingist is opting for short circuiting the drama and allowing for needs to be addressed organically as they arise. Having a large pre-conception of "what's best for X" before the need arises leaves room for the ego to play its games. What's best for Top is that everyone give him $1000 dollars.

Just wondering if being a good person would be better for the world or if being enlightened would be better? Thanks The question is .... wait for it ... misconceived.
