I saw Howie Mandel on Conan a few nights ago. His wife loves elephants, so he leased one for his wife's birthday from someone who leased elephants.. It's impossible to describe the film footage of the damage the beast did to their property. Shrubbery. Grass. Driveway. The eave on the roof on their home... He pointed out they were hiding in their house for quite some time when the roof started falling away from the house. Betcha he wished he knew about this White Elephant place. pretty dull story here Artie, but the fact that you wrote understandable sentences is such a remarkable improvement from your typical fare that I'm giving you a thumbs up on this one. It's no more dull than anything you've posted here in your devolving incarnation. I noticed in the bbc code quote-mode this morning you're still popee, but it morphs into farmer when you post, or are quoted. Hopefully you'll make the time to work that one out amongst yourselves. Did someone read it to you, or did you have your narrator turned on?

I found a box of emoticons, and was just looking to play with it. popee is the username, farmer is the display name. its been that way since May, you far-sighted nincompoop.

. yes. modelling gets in the way of reality thinking gets in a way clarity thinking gets in a way of non duality these are implied in all your posts and reveals your attitude towards tmt , a way of puttings things differently Where in our discussion did I use the words clarity or non duality? Now, I did use the word reality once, but that was in reference to the science of Physics. It's not a word I use very often at all outside of that context. I'm actually quite fond of thinking, but I don't let it get in the way. So I disagree with you, I've put nothing in the way. okay

Ah, I see. My issue wasn't holding on to a victim story; my story was pretty awesome and magical. I really LOVED my story too! But ultimately it was *just* as much of a trap. All stories are. Victims are told (by the personal growth gurus) "just tell a better story." Well, I can say from experience, telling a better story may work for awhile, but it's still just a story, and the story is the trap. Drop the story, you are no longer trapped. So the story is no longer identified with - but it still plays out, and I still watch it unfold. I no longer try to write it myself. What's being written is far better than anything else I could have ever come up with myself. And yes from time to time I can jump back into a character in the story, but I know it's just that, a character in a story. Writing a story about dropping a story is just more movie script.
What are your thoughts on this quote by Ishtahota ... Time is an illusion, product of the ego world. Spiritually speaking time is how we measure our imperfection. If we were perfected all that we need would be waiting on us just before our need was apparent to us. Back again. Yes, it's possible all I've done is written a new story about dropping a story. I guess we shall see. As for Ishahota's quote, I agree time is an illusion. I disagree we are imperfect and need perfecting, but I can see how the illusion of time might make us have that illusion. And, in a timeless space, there is no "waiting" or "just before." Who we are lacks for nothing. Everything we need is already there, and it always has been. In every single moment, here/now, whatever is within your world (people, places, thoughts, feelings) is exactly what you need. Our needs are getting met every moment, we just may not recognize that they are, perhaps because we confuse wants with needs, or perhaps because we want what we get, yes even suffering.... If you imagine what it might be like to be an eternal infinite nothing, you might see why suffering would be chosen. Eternity is a long, long time! With all that "time," anyone would get bored and crave any and all adventures. Heck, humans can't even take a 1/2 hour in a sensory deprivation tank, without going mad! Maybe that's how all THIS started? Maybe with desire to exist. And that is the miracle - that we exist at all. There is amazing magic in that. What's even more amazing and magical is that even if this SQ body/mind/storyline disappears, existence will pop back up again in a different form. Because nothing and something are related and dependent on each other. That is all just pretty darn cool! Even the most boring, uneventful day in this body is an amazing miracle and gift. And being a rock would be just as miraculous! This is what I see, more and more. It's getting easier and easier to find acceptance with each moment, no matter what is presenting itself in that moment, even if whatever it is seems unpleasant or annoying, or not quite what I thought I wanted. It is a shift in perspective. I don't know how else to explain it. There's also this rising confidence and trust, and a relaxation into that trust, which is all quite new for me. I do not know anything, but I'm okay not knowing, and falling further into the unknowing. That is new too.

gentlefolks, asking if time exists is like aaking if inches and kilograms exist. time is a unit of measurement. time is a measure of motion. specifically the measure of space expansion. distance is created and the passage of time is the difference of rate of motions between objects. if this process of spacetime creation is an illusion, then its an elaborate one. since. real energy and force are spent in this process. Yes, time/space is movement, and movement is experiencing, which is a product of distinction formed through conceptual bifurcation originating in imagination.

Which is all a story originating in 'your' imagination.. still the mind that imagines such fantasy and see/experience what is actually happening.. Be well..

tzu,
how do you relate what is actually happening ? when you said imagination and a story is this in a sense that such explanation is utterly ridiculous , made up and no semblance to what is being talk about what so ever?

Greetings.. tzu, how do you relate what is actually happening ? when you said imagination and a story is this in a sense that such explanation is utterly ridiculous , made up and no semblance to what is being talk about what so ever? Hi Hybrid: I, like everone else, experience "what is actually happening", and when the mind is 'still' there is no interference from beliefs, imaginings or knowings, there is just what's happening.. when 'what is' is seen/experienced clearly, there is no story that can suffice as intermediary between the experiencer and the experience, and there is no doubt about the experiencer's relationship with what 'is'.. but, when mind contrives and imagines stories about what is actually happening, those stories become obstacles to to the direct experiences.. each person's 'story' is based on their own unique mindscape, and for that reason there are differences and conflicts, obstacles.. In E's case, there is rigid attachment to the story-line of Neo-Advaita, the teachings of Niz, and his own self-image and beliefs, so.. yes, his story-line takes precedence over stillness and clarity.. stillness and clarity reveal the inadequacy of ideas and concepts as 'truth', there is an immediate realization of the simplicity and profundity of paying attention with unconditional sincerity.. direct experience with what is actually happening will always trigger the release of dependence on ideas, concepts, and imagined beliefs 'about' what is happening.. and, after the sobering euphoria of the realization, all that matters beyond the direct experience and its relationship with Life, is helping others to have their own direct experience.. 'stories about' truth and beliefs and ideas and concepts originating from imagined desires and attachments to mystical belief systems, those 'stories' are obstacles to the direct experiences.. if someone describes 'nonduality' as 'truth', then there will be those seeking nonduality and truth rather that the clarity to experience 'what is' directly through their own relationship with 'what is'.. Be well..
