Did Peter throw in the towel? I thought he just wanted to give up making everyone a better person? Peter threw in the towel in the sense that he's just going to do ZD style moderation across the board, but he wouldn't mind if someone else joined the moderator team and maybe took over moderating the moderated section...

No one needs a moderated section anymore, apart from you maybe. So far I see almost everyone being cool with leaving the entire forum unmoderated.

Did you forget that I lobbied for the unmoderated section? You lobbied for a forum split. I know that you are not afraid of an unmoderated section, but you do assume that others, more feeble ones, need protection. The betterer idea would have been your initial suggestion to turn the general discussion area with all the threads already being there into an unmoderated section and create a moderated kumbaya-zone from scratch and not the other way round as it happened here. But since it's all unmoderated again, that's spilled milk under the bridge. The entire forum split idea was based on a few guys insecurities and misconceptions. So it was doomed right from the start.

I know that you are not afraid of an unmoderated section, but you do assume that others, more feeble ones, need protection. You've not been paying attention, have you? Yes I spoke for Steve, repeating what he said and what others were saying in terms of feeling picked on by you and/or Enigma. I did it for two reasons, one to clearly represent their position because apparently they couldn't represent it themselves without making personal attacks, and two to help them get what they want so everyone can STFU with the complaints already. Well, I guess that warrants a thanks for seeing that I'm capable of betterer ideas than the worst ideas out there. I think it really boils down to that Peter is sick of being an active mod since he can't find clear cut standards to mod along. He went along with the forum split idea thinking that it was a possible compromise. A few of us warned him about the betterer and worserer way of doing the split. But as you said, too late to redress that. You like everything in clear cut, neatly boxed, black and white according to how you see things. You complain about the drama, but much of the drama comes from you pushing on peeps like you're doing with Andrew. Then you make unsubstantiable claims such as "Andrew is bringing the forum vibe down". You're intimately tied into Andrews vibe and you're the one making the complaint about Andrew. Sounds like you're helping to create the situations you complain about.

Yes, you made it as convoluted as possible and tried to work out a perfect plan so that everyone can be holding hands by dawn. Do you have the same approach in real life? Is there room in your ontology for the possibility that certain folks are just incompatible no matter how much effort you spend on having them sing kumbaya together? He follows a concept, like you. He wants to make people behave better. Just look at the result. It only got worse. Following a concept ends in disaster. If you would let go of these assumptions, we could have a meaningful conversation. As long as you don't, you are just a troll.

Is there room in your ontology for the possibility that certain folks are just incompatible no matter how much effort you spend on having them sing kumbaya together? Only to a degree did it get convoluted as a direct result of Top's input - there were too many cooks and they spoiled the gravy. You exaggerate stuff and stir in a whole bunch of sarcasm to sound tough. It's not helping anything. Yeah, I think I can agree here. But, the simple act of following a concept isn't what makes things end in 'disaster'. It's not accounting for politics and people who are against x, y or z will contribute to how things end up - like all the stupid poll threads so-and-so for mod, is about as idiotic as it gets. We need that shyte like we need a hole in our heads. Just childish fluff - the usual - mocking an idea, in the hopes of bringing it all down. Jerks. But, there's no need to think that it can't be remedied - but as I just said, some don't want a 'remedy' - they want things to be static because they're comfy with it, for whatever reason, and it gives them the opportunity to be smart-alecs. Weeeeeee. If you're wanting a meaningful conversation with him or anybody else, you have to factor in your own part to its success or - failure.

Honestly don't know how making such a statement holds any real meaning.
