I recently read Drunvalo Melchizedek's "The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life." I began to recreate a lot of sacred symbols which has been a very spiritually significant experience.
A few weeks ago, I took some LSD and had a very positive experience, where both my friend and I felt like we were in the company of Aliens as well as humans from different times. We created and investigated many different geometric forms including star tetrahedrons and Sri Yantra's.
This is not the first time that I have felt the presence of another being or consciousness.
It was during this experience that I felt like I was "remembering" something significant about myself and about reality. It was an awakening.
I have a few fears: One fear that I have is that now that I am "awake," I feel responsible for something. My second fear is that the geometry, the LSD, and my heightened consciousness is making me "visible" to a lot of beings... Has anyone else ever felt this way? Particularly that LSD makes you light up...that it makes you stick out inter dimensionally?

LSD can have that effect. I gave the s**t up years ago, but I'll never forget that first experience. These experiences are good in one sense, they make you wonder what's really going on. Not to bust your bubble but it's not really an awakening. It's just the mind playing tricks. You can call it a mystical experience. I'm willing to bet you started noticing synchronicity (coincidences) and that sort of thing. It's just paranoia settling in. The mind is just wondering what's going and it doesn't know what to make of it. That's all. You'll be fine. Just lay off the drugs homie. |

Interesting responses...
Ivory...I think it is interesting that you think you are "bursting a bubble."
This was not my first spiritual experience and certainly not my first experience with psychedelics. It was a distinctly powerful experience. I by no means believe that drugs are the only method or the best method for finding spirituality. I do, however, believe that psychedelics are as valid as any other method (however, this is not what I am here to talk about...)
Isn't a mystical experience an experience where one interacts with a higher consciousness (God..etc..?)
Of course I understand that much of what goes on in a psychedelic experience or an experience deep inside ones self is often a projection of their own ego. I have taken into account that much of the "beings" I encountered may have been projections of myself. (BTW, my friend experienced these beings as well..) This does not however, invalidate the experience... If God lives within all of us and we are not that separate from each other and the the things around us, then interacting with projections of ourselves may be no different than interacting with external beings.
You can write off synchronicities as paranoia...by saying "that's all" but most mystical traditions find much grounding in synchronicties and miraculous events. It seems like the "third eye" chakra is defined by its ability to intuitively sense synchronities and allow us to make sense of their significance.

I am not sure what you are asking.. The only thing that I am sure of that I know is that their is more going on around us than the culture I was raised in taught me to believe. Other than that, anything I know for sure is based on intuition, faith, or experience.

Funny, after reading your response I opened up Jed McKenna's first book where he says, "I have enlightenment vs. mysticism on the brain." I think that'll be a good read for you. Easy, entertaining read, but some solid s**t in there.
I wasn't writing anything off, I misjudged your experience is all. Regarding synchronicity, they're not always meaningful. I think it's just the playful nature of the universe. I like how Jed words it, "the universe is really just a big, playful puppy ... playful puppy theory." One of those things you smile at.

Man, that stuff is nuts. It had me feeling like I was stuck in a trip for ages. Then in the trip I tripped, and it just got out of control. I just watched Inception and it almost recreated that feeling.... but this time I knew what was up. Drugs can be neat things, and they can alert you to the presence of certain things, but they really just give you a bunch of junk to wade through.
Can you awaken through them? Maybe, who knows? That's not something I can say yes or no to, but I can definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, tell you that you can end up on a wild goose chase. They just make your mind go a million miles an hour... then once in a while the mind 'overheats' and shuts down for a second or two, giving you that 'awakened' feeling. It's the quiet time between the thoughts that you realize what's going on.
Kinda like having ideas so crazy and outlandish that there's no way to delude yourself into believing they're true for too long.... until the drug kicks back in. Then you think the drug is the key. Have fun, but watch out for the quicksand..
I suggest after maybe trying it out that you discontinue use. Life wouldn't be the same if it hadn't been tried, but it would be a hell of a lot more different if it continued to be tried.

Interesting discussion. I considered bringing it up myself, but drug use can be a sticky wicket for some. I believe it was Ram Dass that said something to the effect, 'drugs can lead you to the door, but they won't let you in'. I suspect that caution is probably true. In my twenties I used acid quite a few times, but that usage was primarily motivated by my desire to 'get high', and my life at that time was not focused on spirituality. Although I do remember having profound thoughts, they would fade quickly, and I was left with a feeling of having been in the vicinity of Greatness, but I failed to follow through. Personally I have found marijuana a helpful adjunct to my spiritual progression, but only certain strains of sativa, not indica, which gives you the body stone, and has almost no spiritual purposes. But being 50ish, and living in an iron fisted state, such occasions of possessing any at all is rare. My back is acting up, think I should move to Cali.  I just recently learned of a different psychedelic, dmt. There is a movie going around, called "The Spirit Molecule", and I found it extremely interesting. Shamans in South America have been using it in rituals for centuries. There are Youtube videos of Terrance McKenna describing his experiences with this substance, and needless to say, my curiosity has become aroused. Many describe the experience as being instantaneously transported into a different dimension, where vibrant colors and geometric shapes are captivating. Many users tell of an interaction with 'elves' , or something, which move exceedingly fast, and are trying to show you something. According to reports, the user is not "out of it", like on lsd, but 'normal' mentally, just away from this reality for a short time (10-15 minutes). Though I can not attest to these descriptions personally, I found that making the stuff at home is surprisingly not all that difficult, so I might eventually give a follow up with any personal observations that I may have. One more thing, users say dmt makes lsd seem like kindergarten class, so I imagine, respect and concern for its power should be given proper attention. |

Nothing wrong with a little acid. It can open up somethings. I am a early 70's guy done more than my share. However I found acid to be a little too hard on the senses for spiritual work.
DMT works far better but even with DMT you will get too much info too fast. This is why in native cultures they will mix different plants with the DMT to slooooooow it down.
One thing to remember is when the conversation is over you hang up the phone.
Popee yes I have that film. I started a thread on here somewhere on DMT.
Too lazy to look now, sure you find it before me anyways.

It's better out here. I know Karen, but there's absolutely no reason to rub it in.  besides, there are seed banks you know. However, big brother's war on drugs is gradually losing steam, at least regarding the weed. The economic meltdown is helpful in this fight, States LOVE new tax revenue streams, and the black market must drive them nuts. |

You just seemed so sure about things like that there are such things such as sacred symbols, that you are "awake" (whatever that means to you), that there are other beings out there, and that there are other dimensions to light up. I know the desire to believe in higher plains and all that. But the actual is where it's at in my book. That one speck of matter is blows my mind. |
