If it's not true, we don't really need theories to explain it, so much, eh? I've just wasted 5 min to find out whether ostriches really hide their heads in the sand. Some say "it only looks that way, duh" and that nobody has actually observed them do it. But there are pictures floating around showing their heads in the sand. Anyways, ostriches do do something similar to that.

Does_an_ostrich_bury_its_head_in_the_sand Answer Actually, after a 80-year study was conducted on the proverbial ostrich, not one ostrich stuck their head in the ground. This is most likely a myth derived from animal's defense mechanisms, but is not factual. No they do not Read more: wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_an_ostrich_bury_its_head_in_the_sand#ixzz1AslYDWiE

haha right. I like the one about the boy playing hide and go seek. He asked his mom how to find a good hiding spot. His mom said, "if you can't see them, they can't see you." So the boy stood in the middle of the room with his hands over his eyes. ;D I STILL do that! And it really, really works!

But it's a little peek, so they still can't see me! Don't take my word for it. Try it on a crowded city street. Don't worry about what people might think. They CAN'T see you!

Thanks for sharing that! It brought up some familiar things and something else that I'm not sure about yet.

You're very welcome. Isn't the "something else that I'm not sure about yet" just so lovely ... And just 'cuz I can't not share ... I'll tell you what it's clarified for me this time round. I'm pretty certain that all creatures, all evolved creatures, may be an intelligent way of saying it ~ live in headlessness, for most of their lives. How can they not? They can't fill their head, with the fiction of a finite self ...

Well, the familiar thing is actually something I'm not too sure about, but the 'something else blah blah' that you mentioned that I mentioned is something a bit different. I just meant I was trying to figure out whether something that happened was an experience or an actual noticing of something (not how I want to say it, but I'm not sure how to say it). It was like the directly visible universe was all there was, and I somehow saw edges of black around it like I could see outside of it. But that's just ridiculous. Directly visible universe is one thing, but seeing outside of it seems a bit.....out there.
The familiar part might've been the point of the movie...I've been focusing on breathing and various other things for a little while now.

Yeah I know you've been doing a lot of work lately man and so what is revealing itself, I am sure is not ridiculous in any way. This is a huge, vast and deeply intricate universe, and the answer to what has been glimpsed, if you want one ... can only come by returning to inside, the seen. I understand what you thought, these 'edges of black around it' represented, though your mind can only interpret the known ... The unknown will always be a little way past, the known ~ yeah? Once an aspect of the unknown has been revealed and has become the known ~ don't be thinking that the unknown doesn't still exist ... now will ya

Suppose it could be an exercise in headlessness. Or insanity. Who decides these things? Think I was revisiting "On having no head". Standing before a panoramic view. Big view seemed good. Where I was. Reached back, unzipped the back of the head. Took my imaginary arms, grabbed the imaginary flaps on either side of the zipper, stretched the flaps out far enough to encompass everything I saw. Continued stretching. Wrapped those flaps around everything I saw. Hah! It's all in your head. Hold the folds out in a V-shaped funnel while walking. (Driving is harder) The world is moving thru you. For me, 24 hours on the edge of realization. That's as long as I can stand.

I think it was just a strange experience. My eyes seemed like they were crossing, and it was very.....trippy? I hate using that word. It just seemed like a mind state. It's something 'I' can 'do' as opposed to something that's there all the time. Edit: Say, I just thought about it for a second and I'm positive the funky part was a load of poop now. It was something I saw--something known like you mentioned. If I know it, I can't be it! I think driving is when I get most of the glimpses that come to me, LOL. I can entirely, 100% relate to the idea of seeing the world move through you. If you keep doing it, things get crazier--the body becomes part of the world that's moving! At some point I even became aware of blinking for some reason.. the whole world, myself included, was on autopilot. Just one big glob moving around, changing shape, color, size, etc.
