Okay, here’s my whole laughable story in living color! I’m listing it here for those who are too curious for their own good. LOL. Today, I discovered that this book is still listed on Amazon, but not in my original format. The publisher sent me a copy of a second edition (with a new foreword) to review, but I had no idea until today that that second edition replaced the original on Amazon. I think the used copies on Amazon are the real thing, but I’m not positive because I haven’t seen a photo of the jacket of those copies. At any rate, I intend to contact the publisher and get this unauthorized second edition replaced by the first one until I can get my own revised second edition published.
Here’s the backstory. I wrote this book shortly after my spiritual search came to an end in 1999. Unfortunately, I was still in a rather euphoric state when I wrote it, and in retrospect I wish that I had waited a few more months and done some more editing before sending it to the publisher. I have since re-written the book, but the updated version has not yet gone through the final editing process. It will be available from Amazon some time in 2010.
The story of my search for truth is pretty funny, and if you enjoy reading about someone making a fool of himself for a long time and in many different ways, then you will enjoy this read and get a lot of laughs. If nothing else, it illustrates how the search for truth played itself out in a particular life—with all the gory details included. It includes everything from my dramatic encounters with various Zen teachers to several brushes with death. Along the way it covers art, science, love, koans, and family matters.
